Description
Birth story: fav.me/d9sksd5Now here is an updated, somewhat finalized version of Tharinas. A proper map would be in 3D but I have no skills for that so this shall do. Think of the world's shape as a water drop and the concentrations Serva, Leika and South are on the outer edge of it while the middle part straight down from Central is entirely empty. Serva and Leika are on the front edge from the viewer and South is on the back edge.
Neutral Energy (further explained in: fav.me/d9vcv1g )
Tharinas, being an extremely small universe faces the issue of being in a stream of neutral energy, caused by the gaps between larger worlds. To help it stay in place, Helroz placed the giant comet against the current to split it and protect Tharinas. (the comet can at the very top with exaggerated proportions for visual reasons)
The stream causes the edges of Tharinas to be extremely dangerous. Instead of ending up in nothingness an unwary traveler that crosses the edge will be dragged away by the current and lost forever, having their godhood consumed by the neutral energy. Only gods powerful enough to surround themselves with pieces of their own universe can travel through the matter.
Characteristics of Tharinas as a world
The planets of Tharinas are almost all habitable, because Helroz didn't want empty planets under his rule. The
planets are closer together than normally, because they weren't created by expansion like universes normally,
but through gathering. Languages, species and many other things are very similiar on most of the planets,
because they were altered by the same god before they were gathered. All these features make Tharinas a home to a lot of interstellar travelling, socializing and market. Humans are an extremely common species, but different humanoids and a selection of other intelligent life forms interact peacefully all the time. The concept of "aliens" does not exist in the most civilized areas and the meaning of species and origin is not as great as the community one considers their home and family.
Although Helroz is the creator of most mortals on his numerous planets, many places have their own demigods and half-gods that
had existed before Helroz's rule and managed to hide themselves from him. After the god was sealed the smaller beings have slowly started showing their faces again.
Central
The most dense concentration that acts as a capital for Tharinas. The comet at the very peak of the world provides a source for many rare minerals, so although retrieving them is a dangerous job it has helped the area to become the center of communications, technology and economy.
Great majority of Central's planets have access to space travel and interplanetary markets known simply as hubs provide not only the newest parts for spaceships but also mundane services like food and gossip.
Serva
The second largest concentration. Serva is heavily populated and a home to a large variety of very different societies. Some embrace space travel the same way as people in Central while some solar systems are entirely "protected", which means as long as the inhabitants remain on their planets outside interference is prohibited.
Serva suffers from internal struggles every know and then when its different cultures collide and some doubt it will never reach the same level of modern prosperity Central has.
Leika
The calmest, least populated concentration. Despite its many solar systems and a great number of inhabitable planets Leika has the fewest number of native intelligent species. This has lead to planets being colonized and large areas being used by a single culture. Leika is known for reliable long-term alliances between species and prosperity followed by good amount of living space and overall peace.
One of Leika's signature features however is its brusque attitude towards foreigners. The inhabitants allow visitors to their area reluctantly and rarely leave the sector themselves, leaving Leika rather alienated from the rest of Tharinas. Protected planets are common in Leika.
South
South is what used to be the bridge to Far End. Now it is but a mere remnant of a sector as it was where Helroz began his destruction 7000 years ago. The culture in South used to be a lot like in Leika, but slightly less civilized. Alliances were smaller and conflict happened more often. Now however most intelligent life in South has been lost but some native species still live in the separated planets.
Far End
Far End, the concentration at the very bottom of Tharinas. This area is the most diverse and least advanced of all of them. Several highly developed civilizations live there, but most of the planets don't have space travel, making them protected.
The gaps
Everything outside the concentrations is referred to as gaps. Gaps have solar systems and intelligent life as well, but travelling is much more complicated out there than in a dense area. The matter in gaps is in constant movement, making locating planets very difficult - leaving and returning to the same place later is nearly impossible without a beacon to show the way. People from Central and Leika have studied the flow patterns of gap areas for a long time, but the movement of matter seems to be entirely unpredictable.
