Description
This thing happened to me this morning: I've been a little stressed and tired, so I had a little accident involving me bumping into the car in front of me. My fault entirely. No damaged to the cars or people, just a little scratch on the bumper of the car in front of me. I'm thinking "OMG!! but thank goodness it was only a light bump, no one got hurt!" Then the woman got out of the car, and started shouting abuse at me. "What the f do you think you're doing! What the f is wrong with you!! blah blah.. f**k this, f**k that, f**k you!" and I am standing there close to tears repeated saying "I'm sorry, it was my mistake, no excuse.. so sorry.. "Then it got me thinking.. Why are we so abusive towards people who made a mistake, have done something wrong, even if they're remorseful? When we are a victim, does it give us right to be abusive and nasty?
It makes me feel sad..

So beautiful in its sadness.
Love the colours of this, the lighting on his face contrasted with the muted background and that wonderful bleeding of colour over the top, as if he's literally dripping with pain and regret.

I really like this piece, I like how the colors bleed and fade. I bet this would look great on a canvas.
I do hope your day improved after that incident. Some people do not realize that accidents happen and people are not infallible. Perhaps she was having a bad day, however this does not give one the right to be abusive towards another for any reason. She may have had a lit fuse and you were the closest one to take the brunt of it. It is a bit saddening how some treat others but I have hope from those that have big hearts and show kindness.

I have the same hope.. Maybe my problem is that I expect everyone else to be nice.. I get taken aback and scared when I come across something like this...

oh buddy I am sorry about that horrible incident with the car accident. I wouldn't know what to do if I got an abusive person. I have had car accidents too but luckily no one has as swore at me yet. . .gulp. I think many factors make people abusive. the stress, bad day, money problems. but I applaud the people who excise self control and never let these things give them an excuse to abuse people. do onto others what you'd have done onto yourself rings very true for me, but even I can be a jerk lol
but anyways Now I must say that this is an awesome illustration from you buddy. I love how expressive this is and how you convey emotion by having his colours running from his face. He looks rather sad and I feel a strong need to hug him Also makes me think of a song from Cindy Lauber True colours. Don't lose your true colours Loki lol. Tomorrow will be a better day
brilliant work buddy

somehow I can't imagine you ever being a jerk. I proabaly was quite unlucky to have bumped into an angry person.. I do have faith in humanity in general, and believe that most people are good...
True Colours, now that's a very fitting song for this picture. Thanks for that..

yeah when my hormones start moaning I become very agitated and tied. I try really hard not to get cranky but it is so hard. little task become so hard and noise seems to get ten times louder. It is a horrible time.
And no problems buddy, also hope that you feel much better since the accident. Also hope your car is ok. I forgot to ask about that lol.

Yes.. the hormones.. always trouble isn't it? My husband stays well away from me during "that time of the month" What you describe is very correct, specially about noise..
Oh and my car is ok... there wasn't really any damage to both the cars but some scratches.. I haven't got a call from her, so I am guessing her car doesn't need any repairs..

My God that's terrible about what happened. I'm glad you're alright and it's puzzling about why we tend to be so verbally abusive, especially when accidents happen.

Oh Yerin, this picture is beyond amazing... and I'm so sorry to hear about your ordeal
I know the feeling, I had a similar incident with a beggar recently, and those events can really leave you feeling down and questioning humanity... such a shame. I'm sure she had her reasons, but it's no excuse, really it's just bad manners and I hope it left her feeling remorseful later in the day when she had a chance to think!
...back to the picture though... Wow. Just wow. This looks like traditional media too, which I just adore~
sending you big big hugs my dear!

With a beggar? thankfully I don't get to see any of them where I live.. I always wonder if they really have no choice but beg.. if so, we live in a sad society where people are driven down that low..

Ah, you're lucky then, the one's in our city center are starting to get very violent, our SU has had to hold conferences with the police in the last week about them ):
It is a sad society, and I know some of them who are legitimately there without an option... but then the British government is still surprisingly class orientated, and those who fall below working class, and don't know how to exploit the benefit system, often get left behind and forced in to these situations... but hey ho, rant over!! Don't even get me started on the farce that was Maggie Thatcher's funeral today D;

Here in NZ, We hear a lot about British politics and such, being in commonwealth.. so I am kinda familiar with what you're talking about... I didn't realise it was Maggie Thatcher's funeral today though.. I did hear that she passed away, and me and my hubby watched the movie "The Iron Lady" a couple of nights ago.. I'm not saying that I agree with all the things she did, but I still have a lot of respect for her.. and some stuff that went on at her funeral seems very disrespectful..

MightyMilly In reply to slugette [2013-04-21 18:13:58 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, it was terribly disrespectful to the family some of the things that went on that day, but it's a lot better than was expected. There's ways and means of protesting without being vulgar like they were
The problem with The Iron Lady is that it employed a lot of historical inaccuracies and bias to make the film sell-able... it's a shame really. I come from a long line of miners and steel workers, so Thatcher really screwed our family over big time.
I guess I'm a little biased for what she did to our heritage and industry up north, I mean yeah it was a great leap forward for women in power, but I dare say her influence has had a great impact on the fact that we've not had a female prime minister since and not to mention a lack of high ranking female politicians.
She just did as much to harm as she did positive, and the bombing of retreating ships in the Falklands was just inexcusable, all those lives lost just to secure her continued place at No.10. She kind personifies corruption in my mind... but rant over! I promise!

It's very interesting how we can watch a movie about a real person, and believe that everything in it must be true.. I fall into that trap way too many times.. It's good to hear the other side of the story.. not rant at all!! I would love to learn a little more. I grew up hearing bits and pieces about what happened, but never really took interest in it as a young person.. Now that I am a little older and mature (I hope) i wish I had paid more attention.. although, the media coverage of current events are often quite biased in one way or another... (I guess that's another can of worms... ) Anyway.. i can rant about things like this forever too. hahahaha..

I don't understand how anyone can be so rude/abusive at all! If someone bumped into me I'd probably be so flustered/awkward I'd blame it on myself and apologise and wave them along..
ANYWAY
Great painting, literally dripping with emotion. I love the reflections of red and blue on his skin It looks traditional
Did you use a texture?

I had somebody bump into me from behind before, and I didn't find need to be nasty either..
As for your question, I did use a 'paper' texture. Not as a top layer, but as a mid-layer after getting the colour scheme layer down. I really like the traiditional look.
