Evening Star was born partially out of a need to have an heir to the throne and partially out of Fluttershy begging Twilight to have a child... But mostly the latter, because Fluttershy is too cute for her wifey. Most of the time, Eve wears her bushy, wavy hair down without any extra makeup, to blend in more in society. She actually does manage to do so exceptionally well; most ponies tend to forget she's the princess when she wanders around ponyville with her friends without any makeup, regalia or even guards. That last one can be explained by Eve's incredible magical power. Despite being a unicorn, she is more magically powerful than even Twilight Sparkle, the literal embodiment of magic. The cause of this is Twilight's incredible magic passed down to her daughter, combined with Fluttershy's incredible magic potency (talking to animals, the stare) made Eve this way. So, guards couldn't follow her if they wanted to. But the magic also comes with some serious downsides: freakishly sharp and long horn that gets stuck in things and a huge god complex. She wants more than anything to be an Alicorn. She's already the most magically powerful pony in Equestria, so becoming an Alicorn could make her the most magically powerful being in the world. And nothing can stand in her way but the time it will take her to find the right spell.
