Too bad "I don't know how socially withdrawn I'll feel at that moment, so don't count me in." isn't an acceptable reply.
I keep telling myself shut the hell up, get out and socialize (social connection is vital in the business world). So I'd reluctantly accept social event invites from acquaintances and dread. Each. And. Every. Moment. Before, during and after the event. I just need to recharge by being by myself after the social event.
If you talk to me, I doubt you'd say I'm socially awkward nor shy. I just dread social events and prefer solitude. Alone and lonely are two different words. You can be "alone" without feeling "lonely".Β
I'm also extremely selective with the social company I hang out with because I get annoyed easily. Most people get on my nerves within 5 minutes. Either talk too much, gossip too much, lack of common interest, different mentality etc. I just have nothing to say to some people. They don't make me nervous or anything. I stare people straight in the eyes and smile during conversations or speech etc. I just don't wanna talk to them.Β

It is introversion. Hahah i just used the term "antisocial" because that's what most people misused antisocial for "introversion" so I like the sound of "antisocial" more.

Well, be glad that you get a notice before hand. My friends tend to talk about 'insert social event or meeting' among themselves, and then as they are about to go (for instance this happened alot after school) they then just go ''OH HEY, YOU'RE COMING WITH US TOO-'' and I look at them like ''Wut- What's going on?-'' Aaaand usually I end up getting kidnapped- But sometimes I do scold them for not warning me ahead of time.
