Gag.
"Dart! Here!" James yelled, standing up and pointing at his feet. The speckled greyhound looked up, his ears perked up and his head turned to James. He quickly spun around and trotted over to James, panting and wagging his tail happily as James crouched down and smiled, rubbing the dog's face.
"Good boyyyy~" James said happily as the greyhound dropped down in a play stance and made a half bark. Scott smirked and looked up to James.
"He's really well trained, James," he said, "How'd ya do it?"
"Got him as a pup and raised him, not much to it," James said, hurling the frisbee in his hand and watching Dart chase after it, run past it and then wait to catch it as it slowly sailed towards him, "Good dog! Here now."
"So he's never raced before?" Scott asked as Dart trotted over again and dropped the frisbee.
"He was supposed to, but the breeder chose to put him up for adoption for some reason," James replied, patting Dart's head as the greyhound leaned against his leg. "I think he prefers the lazy life anyways."
"Suits him well," Scott said, just as a rumble of thunder rolled over them, "Hey, we should get back inside before that storm hits."
"Good plan," James replied as he went to the back door of his house, Scott and Dart following close behind. Just as they reached inside a torrential downpour hit the yard. James quickly shut the door and peeked through the window. "Wow...that was close."
"Yeah...I'm not walking home in this, you okay if I stay here?" Scott asked. James nodded happily.
"Of course, could use the company anyways."
"You got Dart, he's good company."
Dart had curled up on his small bed beside the couch and let out a heavy sigh as he got comfy. James patted the greyhound's side and went to sit on the couch next to him. "Yeah, when he's not sleeping. But I still love him."
Scott crouched down next to Dart and rubbed the dog's head, making his tail wag happily.
"How can you not, he's one of the best dogs I've ever met."
A almost inaudible hiss was heard, causing Scott to look up to James.
"Did you hear something," he asked, James shook his head.
"No...what did it sound like?" James asked. Before Scott could answer, an absolutely repugnant smell filled his nostrils, causing him to gag and stumble backwards. James was about to ask what was wrong when the same stench hit him. He covered his face and scurred to the other side of the couch, gagging as well as his eyes welled up with tears.
"Oh...oh dog Dart...why...?" he said through his hands.
"What was that?" Scott asked, coughing a little and waving his hand in front of his face to dissipate the smell.
James grunted, pulling a can of air freshener from under a table next to him and pushed the window open with his elbow, the sound of heavy rainfall filling the room followed by the spray of the can. He took a breath and then spoke.
"Greyhound fart...absolutely lethal..."

Dark.
It was a rare event when the planets blocked the closest star, plunging everything into darkness. For Lawrence, this wasn't anything special. He'd witnessed more than a hundred planetary eclipses, and while there were times in which he and his brother William would relax somewhere and stare up into the sky, the lights of the cities on the other planets and populated moons replacing the stars. This time however, he wouldn't be seeing a thing, because he was deep underground in the catacombs, searching for the way back to his house in the pitch black tunnels.
"You got the lights working, William?" Lawrence asked, hearing the sound of footsteps from his left.
"Nope, one better," William replied, Lawrence turned and saw two dark green circles staring back at him, causing him to jump a little.
"Night vision goggles?" Lawrence asked as he fumbled around to grab the set hanging from William's hand. He pulled them on his head and turned them on, the tunnels soon became visible through a filter of slightly flickering green. Lawrence saw William and nodded. "Yeah these'll do."
"So, mind telling me how we lost power down here? I thought the catacombs had multiple generators and backup systems," William said.
"Chances are that it wasn't a glitch or some fault in the power system. I think it was cut," Lawrence replied.
"KRCA or KND?" William asked, sounding a little more serious.
"The power cut affected not just down here but parts of the town nearby," Lawrence replied as he started walking down the tunnel, William following close next to him, "It's the KND, no question about it."
"So who's gonna be down here with us fixing this?"
"Gonna have some spec-ops, I don't think we need a full battalion to take care of a few rouge operatives."
"Which ones?"
Lawrence smiled, "Dark Ops."
The two brothers continued down the tunnel, turning off down a narrow corridor and coming to a small room, illuminated by a small LED lantern on the floor, which barely interfered with the NVGs. Surrounding the lantern, sitting on tables, boxes and the floor were the Dark Ops commandos. Dressed in full body armor, complete with masks and nasty looking weaponry, the Dark Ops turned to look at Lawrence and William. They looked strikingly similar to the Helghast from Killzone.
"General Rogers, we are ready for the mission."
"Good to hear that, Captain," Lawrence replied, "You understand what you're all to do?"
"Yes sir, find the KND stronghold, destroy it, eliminate operatives and restore the power grid."
"Excellent, now move out. We'll follow you in, do your worst out there."
"Understood," the Captain said, "Dark Ops, move out."
The commandos swiftly got up and silently moved out from the room, their forms melting away into the tunnels. Had it not been for the NVGs Lawrence would've believed that they were shadows that became material.
"So you're not gonna join in the fun this time, Lawrence?" William asked as he started walking down the tunnel where the Dark Ops vanished.
"Nah, I'm in a more observational mood today," Lawrence replied, following close to William, "Plus you know I like to take my time with stuff like this. The Dark Ops however will have this done within an hour."
"Why not have Delta Force or the Cyborg Commandos take this mission?"
"Mmm, just felt right to use Dark Ops. Y'know with the eclipse and everything."
"Fair point," William said, shrugging a little. Gunfire erupted from ahead of them followed by screams and explosions.
"Guess they weren't in the mood for being subtle today," Lawrence said as he and William ran down the hallway to catch up with the commandos and watch the carnage.

Stuck
Alister heard a knock on his bedroom door. He sat up from his bed and slid off it, walking to the door and opening it. The light of the setting sun shone over Thomas who was looking a little annoyed.
"Thomas, you okay?" Alister asked, seeing the expression of which Thomas possessed.
"Yeah...can you help me out with something?" Thomas asked.
"Sure, what's wrong?"
Thomas let out a small sigh, holding up his right arm, stuck to the sleeve of his shirt was a piece of paper.
"No matter what I do, this thing keeps sticking to me..."
"That's it?" Alister asked with a small smile. He took the paper between his fingers and pulled it off Thomas's sleeve, "There, done."
Thomas didn't look impressed, he looked at the paper in Alister's hand and sighed.
"Okay, now try and throw it out," he said. Alister shrugged and went to the trashcan in his room and shaking his arm as to toss away the paper. However it fluttered off his hand and then stuck to his arm, he pulled it off his arm with his other hand unto which it stuck to the back of his hand.
"Alright this is getting annoying," Alister said, shaking his hand, the paper holding fast to the back of his hand.
"That's been bugging me all day," Thomas replied as he watched Alister wipe the paper on his shirt which of course stuck to him.
"Oh come on!" Alister said, sounding annoyed and swatting at the paper, causing it to fly off for a second and then re-stick itself to him. Thomas started to smile and giggle as he watched Alister flail around to get the paper off himself.
"You need help?" Thomas asked, Alister stopped and sighed, looking to Thomas then grinning as he managed to stick the paper to Thomas's beanie. "Hey! No fair!"
Alister laughed a little and went to pluck it off Thomas's head. "Okay okay, I'm sorry." he said, holding onto the doorknob as he picked up the paper. A loud pop was heard and Alister yelped in pain and pulled his hand backwards.
"You okay?" Thomas asked quickly as Alister shook his hand, the paper then slowly drifted to the floor and settled between them. Alister rubbed his fingers for a moment, staring at the paper and then nodding.
"Yeah...y'know I don't know why I didn't think that it was static electricity causing that paper to stick to you," he said.
"Static did that?" Thomas asked.
"Yep, I remember something like this happening to me once."
"Well...at least we know now if it happens again," Thomas said, hugging Alister, "Thanks Alister."
