animation for my design studio 3.this is a short 2d animation tittled"smile". the animation explores the emotional journey of a depresive teenage girl. this include metaphorical visual representations of her emotions and her attempts to end her suffering

So beautiful... I can watch this over and over. I wish people didn't simply take it as a scary short; it's an emotional one. The red thing is what she sees herself as, ugly and useless. Teenage girls, myself being one, can relate to this and most can to having to fake a smile.
So wonderful done, I don't think you need to change a thing.

Depression is very sad and scary. This film shows great expression and feelings to the viewer. The Sound added the drama to the whole movie.

well im trying to make a short film but since i havent used flash and im trying to now its a bit confusing everytime a finish one frameand put it in the time line it gets confusing then like how can i get to a new frame to make the next part of the file um well.....yeah ._. think you can help me here lol ^^'

um flash has very few standard short-cut which you can use for your convenience!
F5- is to add frame
apple F5 or i think for windows is ctrl F5 -to remove frame
F6- is frame with the exact same content as the frame before it(cant really explain it properly soree)
F7- is to create a new blank frame
F8- is to convert into symbols..
just open a new flash and play around with all these keys and you'll understand the functions better..i think thats pretty much all that i use to do my animation!

You have captured the essence of depression quite well. I have lived there, and managed to come out the other side. Depression still hides out in the darkest parts of myself, and She hates only me, so I have to be careful with my self talk. I have to remember that it's ok to be nice to myself.

ehhhh...
On one hand, I think the message was a bit cluttered by the horror angle, with some cues from Silent Hill, but on the other hand, it was mildly artistic, though a bit unfiltered. The anime eyes definitely didn't help, though, or perhaps that was intentional, on a presentation and literary level.
I really liked the entire segment of her going through the festival, though, and how they all turned into mannequins/figure dolls/whatever, whispering, expressing anxiety, and demasking those around her, while ironically, she herself wears a mask.
It actually reminded me mostly of the second season of Code Geass.
I think the ending could have been expanded a bit more, though.

Was freaky I can give you that, the first image with her true reflection almost threw me of my chair. You can still work to smooth out the animation ( i know how much of a pain that is to hear, I'm an animation student my self) Personally is not my kind of animation but it work really well: The colors are quite washed out and that is good, the sound is well done and freaky when it has to be (maybe readjust slightly the volume at certain points) so.... All in all it works grate and the message is sent out... but you can improve by adding extra in-betweens in order to smooth it out !!!

Interesting. I like the how you executed this. I hope I followed what you were trying to say and that was that everyday we put on a mask in order to blend in to the crowd around us. We don't want others to see us as weird and so we must smile to blend in to cover the sadness we really feel.
The interesting thing I got was that this girl sees everyone for what they are. That they are all the same under the surface.
Question, her inner self had a scar along the chest. Is this representative of anything?
All in all, great job on this. It moved well and had a good but sad message.

This is sad, but the worst thing about it is the fact it happens so often and that's normally how it is. This is a very emotional video and I like it. Was this a project for fun or for class?
