StrangeAndUnusual In reply to ??? [2007-09-22 09:12:30 +0000 UTC]

this is really good
especially the eye detail stuff
my problems in full face drawings are usually the challenge of getting the jaw lines to look equal more or less.
could you also do one about anatomy (male and female?) or did you do one already and i missed it?

You shouldn't be taking credit for copying images from a book and claiming them as your own. You either need to cite your sources or not upload this stuff.

Vail,

Yes, I own that book and I have had that book for about 15+ years. I took a life drawing class and this was the book we had to get. I won't deny that after 15 years that his notions didn't sink in. Honestly, that is the best way to remember how to draw an ear.

Before you judge me for using this idea, bear in mind that Stephen Rogers Peck didn't come up with that idea or even half of the ideas in that book. He clearly studied under George B. Bridgman. So, go find this book: "Bridgman's Complete Guide To Drawing From Life" ISBN: 0-517-25546-4 and you will find 70% of Stephen's total Anatomy guides, such as the 'wedging' and drawing the block forms, and using joints and such as 'levers and pulleys.'

Finally, the name of this peice is 'FACE PATTERNS.' The primary focus was to help artists learn how to draw realistic faces by use of a pattern system. You absolutely will not find the face that I drew, nor the patterns listed in any book. The ear and the eyebrow pattern was just a footnote to help people with a few of the finder details of the human head.

If I had to give reference for every little thing I learned, the list would include all the old masters, and teachers I have ever had, and every single person that ever gave me the opportunity to draw them and study them.

I understand your concern but as a gatherer of information my inspirations, influences, and references are combined from not only thousands of sources but through actual life drawing over almost 2 decades. So I didn't feel it was necessary to state Stehpen's book as a source, considering the majority of the ideas in this peice are all mine and not his.

Don't lecture me as I am not in the least way at fault here. Of course I realize that you are not simply plagiarizing but when 2 pictures look exactly the same down to the shading credit should be given.

Wow, you have officially saved me from having to stare at people to try to figure out how faces work at the profile! so I can find it again! Are you going to do more? Cause you explain/show really well!
