Description
A potent vessel when used correctly, the Regulus class is intended as a hit-and-run vessel. While its normal armament is barely more potent than that of an Endymion Frigate, the Regulus-class possesses a torpedo bay for heavy-duty capital hunting. These remotely steered munitions can be intercepted, and while a direct full-power capital weapon is enough to disable or destroy one, outright rendering it inert requires a hit to the nose, or detonating the fuel tank without separating it from the rest of the torpedo. A simple impact-fuse explosive, these torpedoes' main threat lies in their ability to punch through armour before detonating, ripping through a vessel's soft interior.ARMAMENT: The Regulus-class is armed with, in total:
>4 Broadside Heat-Rays.
>2 Heavy forward Heat-Rays.
>2 Medium Heat-Ray turrets.
>2 Pulsed Heat-Ray turrets.
>2 Torpedo bays.
It's important to note that while the Heat-ray armament of the Regulus is roughly on par with the smaller Endymion frigate, the Regulus' weaponry is more potent as the two pulsed turrets, roughly as powerful as a broadside gun, can fire either side, allowing the vessel to fire more weapons at a single target.
DEFENCE: Like all Machinist Ironclad warships, the Regulus is protected by a layer of Machinist-standard Shockplate. While no thicker than that of an Endymion, the Regulus can put more power through its armour, making it more likely to intercept torpedoes and kinetic projectiles.
