What if Splatoon was a cartoon tie-in series from 2002 or so, and was shown on Jetix in reruns?
I've wanted to do a fake screencap drawing of an old cartoon for a while, and as I've studied the style enough, I feel like I got the hang of it. I took liberties by simplifying details (such as not putting in logos for some of the small stuff like badges, or adding detail to the Splattershot), so it would look easy to draw from an animator's perspective.
To make it as vintage and authentic as possible, I used an 80s/90s VHS filter except I had to experiment with the settings in order to not make them look too 1980s or retro, but with a touch of mid-late 1990s flair. It turned out alright in the end and I hope to experiment with this kind of style more.
