Description Hello there. I'm SilverEagle91. For this comparison, I'm comparing the TUFF Puppy pilot "Purrfect Partners" to The Modifyers pilot. Both episodes are pilot episodes that center on a goofy protagonist trying to complete a mission. I think The Modifyers did better. To show why, I will talk about: the story, the goofy protagonist, the partner to the protagonist, the antagonists, entertainment, and the conclusion. Let's start.

The Story :

TUFF Puppy: The story here is that Dudley is made a TUFF agent, and he and Kitty have to stop Snaptrap from taking over Petropolis. The plot is good, but the execution isn't.

The Modifyers: The story here is that The All Seeing Eye goes missing. Agent Xero and MOLE have to get it back before Baron Von Bain gets it. This plot is executed well.

The Goofy Protagonist :

TUFF Puppy: I'm not fond of Dudley here. He acts way too stupid. I know he's supposed to be established as a new guy, but he can barely go 2 seconds without hurting others.

The Modifyers: I like Agent Xero here. She's goofy and fun loving, but she's no idiot. Even if she wasn't an experienced agent, she's still very smart and cares for others.

The Partner To The Protagonist :

TUFF Puppy: Kitty is pretty much a punching bag for Dudley's stupidity, suffering abuse from his stupidity. At least she's capable and funny.

The Modifyers: While Mole is at the butt of jokes sometimes, he still feels like a real partner to Agent Xero, and his ability to change shape is pretty cool.

The Antagonists :

TUFF Puppy: Snaptrap is the main antagonist, and he's alright. He's a bit funny, but not that interesting. At least he's meant to be a villain, so you're not supposed to like him.

The Modifyers: We have Baron Von Bain and his rat henchman, who are pretty good. The baron's favoritism for Lacey Shadows (Agent Xero in disguise) makes their dynamic interesting.

Entertainment:

TUFF Puppy: This show is pretty much modern Fairly OddParents with animals, meaning all the same type of annoying running gags and confused morality.

The Modifyers: There's a nice fast pace with tons of action and plenty of over the top humor that never goes too far. Plus, Agent Xero's craftiness is fun to watch.

The Conclusion :

TUFF Puppy: The conclusion is alright. Dudley does show his worth as an agent, but he's still too stupid. Plus, the ending joke is lame.

The Modifyers: While it does end on a cliffhanger, at least the story is completed with the duo getting the artifact back.

Winner: The Modifyers

Here are the writers of the episodes.

Purrfect Partners: Butch Hartman & Scott Fellows

The Modifyers: Lynne Naylor, Amy Wolfram, Chris Reccardi

Thanks for reading. Have a good day.

tuff puppy seems to have this love/hate with everyone. When comes to the show itself. It's not great by any stretch of the imagination, while it has a few good jokes here and there. But i feel that the show is the weakest thing that butch hartman has made. As characters, their not that intresting. They either come off as one note animal sterotypes, or simpally just generic. Not to mention, it has serious passing issues aswell as typical butch hartman.
