Description A little look into how I do what I do.
To begin with, I pick a theme. Here we have Felicia in her Midnight Bliss version. I like this version of her more than the original. Not because she's naked,(that's a fur bikini, you know...) but because she looks so elegant this way. Plus, her hands are easier to draw when they look like actual hands.
Anyways, I begin with a quick sketch, nothing too fancy. Just to get the basic idea down. A closeup of her on the mic. Singing a sweet little jazz number, I suppose. In a dark, smokey club somewhere on Chicago's east side.
Keeping this in mind, here is where the drawing get's it's life from. I don't try to think too hard on the details here. I simply let the drawing become what it is. A lot of artist never get the drawing in their mind's eye exactly right. So I simply impovise as I go. Keep the lines simple and sketchy, clean up comes later.
I'm using a program called Autodesk SketchBook Express and a Wacom tablet here. Pencil and paper are great tools to use too. But I like the versitility of the sketchbook program. makes it easier to redo and redesign things as I go.

Looking good so far, I think it's important to start lively and loose with the sketch and tighten things up where needed.

Very nice!
