Description Bowser’s Castle is the third course of the special cup, and takes place inside and around... Bowser’s Castle. There are 3 laps.

The course starts on the edge of a rock in a vast lake of lava which filters into the castle’s moat. Racers take a large left turn, slowly bringing the front of the castle into view, before crossing the moat and entering the castle. The course then winds through the entry halls of the castle, and up 2 short flights of stairs before entering a chamber of lava where the road becomes grated. A thwomp routinely smashes down on the grate, causing racers caught under it to be flattened.

The course exits the building into a garden and slowly turns right. There is a cliff to the left, which overlooks a series of multicolored clouds above hot lava. To the right sits the rest of the garden, which contains Pokio enemies from Super Mario Odyssey. They stick their noses out into the road on the inside of the curve, causing racers to spin out when pricked. Racers can skip this by using a speed boosting item through the grass in the courtyard to the right.

After a flight of stairs, the course winds into another lava chamber. This time, the course becomes an antigravity section. This brings players to appear over the wall, and eventually on the underside of a grate beneath the ceiling. This room connects to the earlier chamber, which can be seen on the “ceiling.” The road twists back to normal before exiting the building again to a balcony.

This outdoor segment is very short and features fenced in deck with more Pokio enemies towards the right side of the road. The course returns to head up more stairs and then back inside the castle. There is a 90° turn before there is a jump from a higher section of track to a slightly lower one inside a room filled with lava.

This room has a low ceiling and lava on either side of the track with no guard rails. There is a thwomp In the center with a boost pad just behind it. After this, the course makes a left turn before reaching a gliding ramp.

The next section sees racers gliding down to a road on the opposite side of an outdoor lava lake, which the tunnel empties into far below. There are lava spires on the edges of the lake, but they don’t pose as much of an obstacle as the massive fireballs being expelled from the Bowser statue above the entrance to the next room. This is this game’s edition of the similar fireball sections like in Double Dash or Wii.

The next chamber is a small cavern with a semicircular road with pits of lava on either side. There are boost strips on the outer edge which serve to speed up racers, however they make it much easier to plunge into the lava. There is a raised, walled platform on the left of the track where a hammer bro enemy stays. Every few seconds, he throws hammers which strike certain spots on the road. There aren’t too many hammers thrown at once to make it fair.

After this section, racers will exit the chamber right in front of the finish line.
