Description The Gerudo Region of Hyrule lays largely to the west of various mountain ranges and highland regions, causing the region to mostly be dry and arid. Because most of the region is a desert, the early people to inhabit the region lived in the mountains, where they could either harness the Sidon and Komali rivers as a source of power and irrigation, or utilize runoff snow from the chilly highlands of the north. Although the Gerudo Fortress was the most famous of these settlements, the Ancient City of Noroba is arguably the most impressive and majestic because of its incredible cliffside, chasm-crossing architecture. Nowadays, the population center of the region is Gerudo City, where some of the most famous modern Gerudo chiefs have lived. The city uses fascinating plumbing to draw up water from the water table beneath the desert and purify it to be used free of charge throughout the city for all residents. Gerudo artists take pride in their water fountains, as many can be found along the streets. The Gerudo region north of the city is prone to dust storms which make it very easy to get lost, and so this region of the Ubrosian wasteland (named after a past queen, Urbosa) is suspected to be the basis of the Haunted Wasteland from old Gerudo and Hylian legends alike. The region is covered with ancient ruins, such as the Desert Colossus, an ancient temple to the Goddess of the Sand, or the worship site atop Mt. Agaat.
