I think he's having one of those moments where he knows he's only really talking to himself but having another person there to help make decisions is encouraging.
(On a random note, this child appears to be unsupervised in Central Park. Now I know this is the 30's but still, he's just standing there while a known assassin asks for dating advice. XD So happy licking his lollipop. Someday he'll be able to say he talked to Vino and lived to tell the tale...and what a strange tale it is.)
