i hiked a thirty kilometer day through snow, wind, rain & carrying a weeks' worth of supplies on my back; just below the summit of a three thousand meter climb i crossed a ridge with a view of home for the night. the wind broke for a few seconds while i snapped this photo and then went back to god-knows-how-fast gusts that sent rain sideways, up--pretty much anywhere but the ground. the weather didn't clear for two more days after.april 2007
