Description Chapter Two: Trapped

After I woke up from being in the blood red room I was locked away in glass again. I was restrained to the berth. I felt a sharp pain on the back of my neck. I looked every which way I could wishing to be free.

“From now on Proto you’ll be tracked. You’ll be silenced if you speak again about your past life is that clear?” Tadashi’s voice rang loud and clear through the glass. I felt him tapping on it as if he waited to wake me up. “And just so you’re clear on silence I mean the same fate as Airi. Although it never had to come to it she died so pitifully. No one will ever miss her existence and no one will believe your words or miss you Prototype.”

“Why’d you kill her? Why can’t I say my real name? Why did I never know?” I asked.

“You certainly are a foolish child. I wonder why I ever let you live on.” Tadashi lowered his voice. I flinched as he pounded the glass.

“Please let me out!” I yelled.

  “Shut up Prototype!”

“No! My name is Ryouya! I have a name now!”

“I will kill you Prototype!” He banged against the glass again. Again I flinched but I was not fixing to lose my name. Not after I was finally called something else other than Experiment or Prototype, and Weird. I was even call a Monster before. Now I finally had a name given to me by my only caretaker who was cruelly taken away from me.

“Please tell me who was I? Why did Airi be so nice to me?” I cried.

“You need to shut up!” He open the glass pulling me out by the collar. He hit me over and over again. I layed on the ground in pain bleeding again. I couldn’t feel anything again. Tadashi stood up wiping some of the sweat off his face. He looked down at me. “So really you never had memories. You never figured anything out.”

“Who was she to me!” I managed to sit up in fury. I was slammed back to the ground by Tadashi. He looked at me coldly.

“You definitely have some guts.” He growled. “She was your mother. You were sick and needed help. She gave up her rights to keep you so we could save you. Use your head and put it all together.” He hit me to ground again. “Now you’re ours. A weapon that’s all.”

“I’ll never work for you!” I yelled.

“Oh really? Not even for your father?” He grinned.

  “My father?” I gasped.

“That’s right boy. I’m your father.” Tadashi’s voice grew darker.

“Then why can’t I say my name?” I asked.

“Because you died years ago.” He punched me again.

“I’m not dead and even if I’m your son I’m not going to work for you.” I muttered spitting some blood out of my mouth.

“Even if there is a way to bring Airi back to life?” Tadashi smiled again.

“You can bring her back to life? She won’t be a zombie right? And she’ll remember me?” I asked naively.

“Of course technology these days are endless. I can bring her back to you just the way she was before she died. All you have to do is work for us.” He stared.

I knew I was being played. As a child though I had no one else to love and the thought of her as my mother made me happy. I wanted to save her. And the only way was to be played...

Ten years have passed since then. I still hold onto the precious items she had given me.

I sighed sitting on the couch in my living room. I sat sideways in it brushing off the dust from the music box I had plan to give to Airi. The spiked belt that I wore hung off on both sides of my pants. My hoodie pulled over my hair and ears. My tail flicked every once in awhile. I placed it back down slowly on the table next to me. I was still called Proto instead of Ryouya. I still waited for that day to come for Airi’s return. I then pulled out my VX3. There had been many new versions of it made since then but I kept it. I had to. It was only right.

“Input log.” I spoke into the mic. The screen opened into a word document with several logs of different days:

12/23/3113

It’s almost christmas time again. When will I get Airi back? I’ve worked nonstop for the past nine years. I can’t stop thinking about her. I just want her back. That’s all I’ve ever wanted since the day she left me... [END LOG]

I turned it off. Then looked back at the tv screen. Bang! Bang! The door hollered for my attention. I rubbed my ears. They could at least knock softer for my sake. I’m not deaf! I pulled open the door. Two preteens looked at me. I just blinked at them. They had animal ears too and they looked like they had no clue of much. They must’ve gotten lost.

“Can I help you?” I ask.

“Are you Prototype?” The albino girl asked. Her curly tail and dog ears twitched. She wore a sky blue kimono with half transparent skinny jeans at least is what I think that’s what they call them. A darker shade of blue on her coat and obi.

“Two, he has to be.” The boy about the same height as her with spiky blue hair said. He wore more modern cargo shorts which was a horrible time to wear them as it was dead winter in the building.  He had a black T-shirt under his tan jacket that matched his cargos. He shivered and his ears were slumped along with his tail. I felt sorry for the guy.

The temperature had to change to real temperatures that happened back along time ago as the earth heated up too much and the oxygen producers pumped air better indoors. Then they made dimensional fields connect buildings and made a new reality that we had to protect.

“Yes that’s my name.” I grunted. I stared at the kids. They had to be around five two or one. The boy was only an inch taller than the girl. I almost had to crane my neck all the way down being five eleven.

“Great! I’m Two he’s One.” The girl smiled. I laughed in my head at her comment. “Can we come in?”

“Fine just don’t touch anything.” I replied. They rushed inside. I gave them some hot milk and cookies along with a throw blanket. I sat down and looked at them. “So I’m guessing you’re my replacements.”

“You mean Experiment A? Yeah we’re from it. They told us we were the newer models but  we lost our memories.” One let out.

“If you're an officer aren’t you suppose to have a house that’s more scary and formal?” Two asked.

  “No.” I stared.

“Is that a VX3? Really? What are you from the stone age? There’s a FX5T out you know?” One remarked with a laugh.

“I happen to like my VX3 thank you.” I took the plate of cookies away from him. “Besides you're not that young either. I’m only eighteen.”

“Can I get the cookies back!” One yelled.

“Am I really being replaced by two kids who seem to have a fascination in cookies that much?” I rolled my eyes.

“Tadashi said to  go here and ask for you.” Two whimpered.

“Of course he would. Anyway good luck not getting blown up on your first mission. Tell Tadashi next time just have my replacements send a letter.” I groaned in my chair.

“Blown up!” Two cried. These kids are loud. Their going to make me deaf before I can get rid of them.

“Hey jerk you mind! She doesn’t like this whole thing she didn’t want to go through this.” One stood up. I paid no mind to him.

“Hey kid if you can’t remember then how do you know if you did or didn’t? I think they just like to pick up kids and brainwash them into becoming their guinea pigs and then go and blow them up.” I let out.

The girl started to cry and the boy held her tightly. “You’re a bully you know that.” One yelled.

“You know if you don’t like me you could leave I mean you’re in my house and the doors just over there.” I pointed. They walked out silently and closed the door behind themselves. I sat a while longer before Tadashi could call me.
