Why did you not dress up like this when we met?! That would have been killer. You were still very handsome though <3

We need to do this some time. Walk around in bathrobes, watch movies all day eating Stouffer's. And slack off from painting lol.

Your favourite flower is the red rose?
We were just talking about the faces you paint Your work is more dream-like than anything I've ever come across.

I love so many different flowers. Roses, crysanthemums, daisies, magnolias... they all seem to be wild flowers!

Thanks, Itti!
More in the artist's comments having to do with technique, or reasons why I did it in the first place? I always save that for the back and forth provided in these comments, sister; if someone wants to know about either, I'm always happy to yap away about it...

Both - how you got there in both senses. What made you think of the idea, and how did you carry it out, and did anything exciting happen along the way?

`katat0nik and I got to talking about oil paint, how much we love it, how we could almost see why van gogh got into the habit of eating it-- so that's mostly where the idea came from; here's the HOW:
I worked at a fairly high dpi-- 300 dpi-- because the "chrome" filter in PS works totally differently (not as detailed) in a lower dpi. So. Your initial subject has to be masked off so that it's separate from everything else. You gotta keep multiple layer copies of your initial shot of the subject. You chrome one, and try to narrow the chrome tones down to three-- lights, mediums, and darks. You then use the pull-down "Select" menu to Select: Color; you select your light tones, and in a new layer, paint bucket your choice of color... you do the same thing with your mediums and darks, giving you 3 separate color layers. "Blind" the chrome layer, or just throw it away (but it's smart to hang on to it, in case you want to make changes later). Now. Command+click the color layer, which selects every aspect of it. Select one of the layers of your initial subject, and click the Quickmask icon on your toolbar, which "cuts" the subject up into just that set which corresponds with your first color layer. Pull down from the Layers menu, select Apply Layer Mask. Do the same thing for the other color layers, so that you have 3 color layers corresponding with the shapes of your 3 "cut up" subject layers. Now, make copies of each of your color layers and Merge those layers, so that you have a complete color "puzzle" creature. Command+Click on that layer, and if you find any gaps in it, pull down from the Select menu and Select Inverse. Dump the paintbucket on to that layer with whatever color seems to have gotten short-shrift, which fills in the gaps, but also fills up the background with unwanted color-- Command Click on your initial subject layer, click the QuickMask icon, and the background color disappears... Okay. So, you put that completed puzzle layer over a layer that has your initial subject layer set to Normal in the Layers palette. Your completed puzzle layer should be set to Multiply in the Layers palette.
Stack your separate subject layers so that they're set to Normal in the Layers palette, with each of the corresponding color layers set to Color in the Layers palette, directly on top of each of the cutup subject layers which they correspond to.
Now do a Bevel and Emboss on the bottom cutup layer, adjusting it so that it pleases your eye, which results in a little Effects box at the bottom of that layer; pull that box (thus copying it into) each of the separate cut up layers. You'll find that, when the piece is flattened, and saved as a jpeg, and the image size dropped from 300 dpi to a dA friendly 100 dpi, the bevel and embossed effect isn't as pronounced as it was when the piece was still in layers, but it is weirdly effective...
