I owe my life to SlipKnoT. They taught (and still teach) me how to use my pain, hatred and sorrow as fuel for my art, rather than succumb to them. That it's okay to feel, to love and hate, and to express it. It doesn't matter how dark, pretentious or trite the result is, as long as it's from the heart.
I've recently dug deep into Corey's struggles with depression and sobriety and found them hauntingly similar to my own. Knowing that I'm not alone in this battle with these far too common demons is, in some fucked up way, empowering.
