Why is Matt black? Why did you make him black in the first place, Redd? Why Redd? Why?

to answer all your questions simply;
the reason Matt is black is because of another AU i own. ( co-own with silly-tiny-t0mmy )

What is that AU?

CanniWorld! It's an AU where originally everyone was going to be rabid, feral, sicko mode cannibals. but, i made it into a big happy family AU. where the future boys are the grandparents. RL is the family dog. it's all great. [you can note me questions about RL but in short; he went insane and his brain is no longer high functioning. even though he has a small bit of his brain functioning as human, the rest is dog-like. RL hasn't spoke in 40 years or so. so when he spoke in this one rp i'm having with Tommy rn, it's like a wolf that just learned English.]

Future Matt, Matthew, is black. now, to explain his backstory (best i can) briefly;
yes he had both parents raise him, up until the divorce when he was around 13, 14 or so [age is not set in stone yet], it didn't phase him all that much but he mostly lived with his dad since mom didn't win that legal argument. he still sometimes goes over to his mother's, for legality reasons and because he loves her too.

his dad loves him to bits, both parents do. and no, they weren't living in the ghetto/poverty his whole life. they had it pretty good (both parents) and even now with the divorce, both are thriving. in fact, Matthew's mom has a white boyfriend :}} & Matthew's dad has a white girlfriend ;}} (why? hecc you that's why >:0!!)
so, Matthew learned that it was okay to date other races since about [age will change later so don't quote me on this] 13, 14 or so. / a young age.

But Redd you haven't answered WHY Future Matt is black..

well dear viewer/watcher, it was honestly a,
"hm, what if Matt was black."

so basically, a random idea and my dumb brain was also, "well, we need a black character. who's gon be our victim òwó"

tbh, Matt just fits.

Tom would've been hard as hell to write as black, besides i don't see him as such. for Eddsworld USA, eh. Tommy is okay but, not my cup of tea to write. fun to draw, not fun to write..
Edd is just... i don't see it in him.. even if i changed the personality traits to fit, it'd be like he'd be an OC rather than Edd..
i'm not even gon explain Tord. he has white crackhead redneck energy written all over him.

But Redd! He's the only one who uses guns all the time!!!

yea and? i wouldn't be able to enjoy writing him bc i'd just imagine him/see in my head as i write, him as black and just

he doesn't have the right design to convert over like that.
Tom? yea, he works. and you have artistic freedom to add features.
Edd? hmm.. sure, go for it but i know i wouldn't. still have artistic freedom but slightly limited
Matt? y'all know i love my sons and actually prefer RW Matt over EW Matt (fanon over canon) i barely even changed him from his canon design, much
