SHORT STORY
Todays hunt consisted of the usual number of six, including a handler. Today, the village had sent out Nobu the piebald lilac who sat proud and prideful at the front of the hunting part, forcing all the rest of the hunters to allow him to be the top dog of the crew. He made sure to keep the rest of the group in line- especially if anyone wanted to try and take the crown. Then there was Hauntzer, the Toki. He was laid back, not caring who or what led them, just wanting to get the hunt done efficiently and with good communcation between the group. Snuffles, the brown merle yeti, layed patiently, waiting for the rest of the hunting pack members to fully prepare to set out towards the mountains. His tail beat against the dirt beneath him as he thought about hunting the mountain goats. Nixie and Romulus pranced around in excitement at the thought of hunting. Romulus especially, he was itching for a good hunt. The two were more towards the meadow but still visible by the rest of the hunting party. And then what they were all waiting for- David, atop of Amarok the sphinx, emerged from a corner, David waving a gentle hand towards the pack. Nixie and Romulus made their way towards Amarok and David, Nixie placing her head on David's lap and licking up towards him but because she couldn't reach his face, she blankly licked the air in excitement. Behind her, her tail whipped wildly. Romulus offered a playful growl, climbing on the side of Nixie and biting her ear. It was pure excitement that drove the two to act such a way. David gently laughed and signalled for the group to begin the treck up the mountain. Nobu and Romulus fought for the head of the pack- Rom only wanting to sniff and track down their prey, and Nobu wanting to lead the pack. Nobu snapped aggressively at Rom, his teeth bared and his tongue lapping aggressively outside of his mouth. Pure warning and a 'don't fuck with me' kind of way. Rom backed up, whining due to anxieties rather than submission. Nobu now led the pack and they trotted briskly up the mountain towards where the mountain goat herds were last spotted. The group made great time, the pack was full of Tokota's who enjoyed a good hunt and wanted to get up to their destination as fast as possible. Their travelleing payed off. They found a small mountain pond behind some rocks, and around the corner was a mountain goat herd. The crew stopped, laying down next to the pond and drinking water. Romulus lapped up water before longingly staring at the mountain goat herd. He wanted to whine so badly because he wanted to begin hunting, but they had to wait. David dismounted from Amarok. He would camp out there while they hunted and the pack would meet him back there when they were finished. Nixie happily pranced in the water, standing in the middle of the pond to sip up water. Finally, Nobu growled lowly for everyone to begin. They fanned out, splitting up to circle the herd without being seen. Within minutes, everyone was in their spot. Nobu waited patiently, looking around at the well hidden Tokota's. Romulus just could not wait any longer. After impatiently waddling in his spot, he finally sprung from his hiding and towards the mountain goat group. Nobu snarled fiercly as he watched Rom sprint out and initiate the hunt but it was too late- the hunt must go on and they could not wait and disicpline the half-mane trouble maker. Anyways, Romulus got a head start. He growled and barked towards the now terrified mountain goats who tried to topple over eachother in a escape attempt but this only caused more chaos and easier targets. Rom snapped aggressively at the legs, ankles, and hinds of the mountain goats. He latched onto a mountain goats hind leg, dragging it from the rest of the herd quickly before snapping harshly down on the leg. The goat bleated in pain until a random male with a large rack charged Rom, knocking the air out of him and forcing him to let go of the now injured goat. Rom growled, getting up to fight the large male until Nobu showed up, tackling the male from behind and pinning him down. He glared towards Rom with a look that clearly stated he was angry. Rom grimaced at Nobu before turning to see the injured goat attempting to flee. He waltzed over, bodyslamming the goat easily and grabbing hold of it's face with his jaws and suffocating it. Nixie and Haunt had been busy exhausting a goat by going back and fourth with harassing, ultimately forcing the goat to fall over from being tired.
