Description
“Don’t talk! I’ll carry you inside.”Jake lifted her up. He ordered Fu Dog to carry in the stake. Once inside, Jake put Fido down on the couch in the front of the shop. He went into the back room, grabbed the blanket and placed it over her.
Trixie was leaning on the counter, Spud was sitting on the stool. They both looked at Fido.
She didn’t sleep. She left her eyes half open.
Jake sat next to her. He stroked her side constantly. He soon noticed the bite mark on her neck.
“What happened?” He said sharply.
“He...bite me. But I didn’t feel it...I...killed him...” Fido said, almost gasping for air.
“What about the other one? Where did he go? Which one bit you?”
“The yellow dog...got away...the gray one, is dead...the yellow dog...he...I don’t know where he went.”
Jake looked at her sympathetically. The German Shepherd wolf cross slowly dozed off into a deep sleep.
Vendetta
“She’s gonna be alright, right?” Trixie asked.
“I think she’ll be okay. A little rest should heal her well enough.” Jake said as he stood up.
Jake bent over and picked up the stake off the table.
“Dude, we know how you feel, but, I don’t think killing those dogs is gonna help much.” Spud said as Jake headed towards the door, the stake tightly gripped in his hand.
“I know you guys loved my parents, too, but there’s no way you could feel how I do. If I don’t come back, tell Fido, when she wakes up, that I love her.”
Jake slammed the door.
The snow wasn’t coming down as much. Just a light fall. Time was unimportant. What day is way, what hour or minute it was, didn’t matter to him anymore.
Going full dragon, he flew, not to high above the streets. He followed what was left of Fido’s footprints into the alley. He flew down in it. At first he saw nothing but a usual alley, but when he turned around he jumped.
The dead dog looked like a demon from hell. His eyes were sunk in, his flesh already rotting, and a nasty wound were he was stabbed.
The sight was horrible, but Jake felt no sympathy for the dog.
“Bastard! You deserved it!”
Jake looked down at the snow. He saw the trail of blood left by the wounded yellow dog.
“Gotcha.”
Jake flew high in the air and followed the trail. It got weaker and weaker the farther he followed.
He eventually came to another alley, this one seeming darker and wider. It was filled with junk, and on both buildings there were large, rusted fire escapes.
“COME OUT YOU COWARDS! I KNOW THERE’S MORE THAN ONE OF YOU! COME OUT OF HIDING!”
All at once, several snarling, glowing-eyed dogs came from all over the alley.
