Description
I did this a few days ago, on the first. It is creatively titled "Three Bananas". I probably should have come up with something a little more pithy, but I'm more than a little sleep-deprived this week, so you get "Three Bananas".Guess what it's a picture of?
Medium is acrylic on acrylic-primed canvas board (8 x 10 size). I did the blue background like two weeks before the rest of it, then had to wait until I could think of what to paint on top of it - it's done with a pallet knife of all things. The bananas were done with a brush.
As for how I ended up painting something as random as a trio of abstract bananas... I originally just picked a random color that would look good on the blue background, which turned out to be bright, bright yellow. I made a swooshy curve, which immediately made me think of bananas, so I made it a banana... except it was off-center, which drove me nuts, so I ended up adding one other, and THAT was off balance a little, so I did the third one that goes off the edge of the board. The lines in the bananas were achieved just by putting a THICK layer of yellow for the bananas, then running the brush sideways to reveal more of the blue, making it greenish.
