Description I sketched this while watching the super bowl, so I blame the weird commercials. But seriously... a pat on the back from her would HURT.

Her story: She lives around year 2030, and her parents were working for the company that had successfully developed nuclear power. But at age 5, an accident happened while she was touring the complex with her parents. It involved a a dove genetically engineered for biological warfare and a malfunction in one of the nuclear generators. The dove in question had been designed so that when it died, its body would literally explode and send now independent little bacteria containing dove DNA all over the place and into the air. When inside the human body, the dove bug would attack all the different types of cells, focusing on the nervous and immune system. The sickness is, I'm afraid, fatal. However, when one of these things escaped, it did so at the same time as the nuclear generator that powered almost everything in the building melted into a smoldering pile of radioactive crud. The dove, birds being more sensitive to stuff like this, died first. Right in front of the inquisitive face of a certain 5 year old girl. The deadly bacteria splattered all over her face just as the first major wave of radiation hit her. The bird DNA was melded into her DNA as a result, but everyone else near the radiation blast was almost immediately killed. Her life was saved when the government sent men in some serious haz-mat suits to see if anyone was alive. They found about 16 survivors, but all of them but her died soon after. She was bedridden for 3 years, suffering from radiation and bodily mutations that were strangely... bird-like. She is extremely optimistic and enthusiastic despite her accident, though some of the doctors who cared for her argued it was brain damage. When she was deemed ready to live outside a hospital (age 12), she was sent to her only living relative who was willing to live with her. She and her uncle were like black and white personality wise, and it's a wonder he didn't kill her on her first day living at his house. By age 14, she taught herself to fly, making her considered the 8th wonder of the world to much of the science community. She is currently 16, dodging reporters, and trying to cheer up her uncle. Her name?

Her name is Hope.
