Description
Jaculungulus pigerAverage size: approx. 0,5 m.
Habitat: jungle canopy.
Danger level: low - it`s not aggressive, but has dangerous teeth and claws.
Lifestyle: basically, fimi just hangs on the tree branches slowly gnawing around their leaves all the time. Its incisors allow to cut some twigs, and posterior teeth to chew rough plant matter; canines are used mostly for intimidation and self-defence. Fimi is rather like an arboreal analogue of a sof, but less timid and vulnerable.
Features: fimi has almost no sense of smell, it finds food with its radars*. Its neck is long and flexible, its joints are amazingly elastic yet strong - fimi can assume the weirdest pose and remain like this for a long time. All of its 12 claws are serrated, but manipulator`s claws act more like velcro, others are more similar to mountaineering equipment. With its non-mobile lifestyle fimi needs little breathing, therefore its gill sacks are small.
Other: fimi totally can`t swim, so it tries to climb as high as possible during the flood season. Underwater it can`t get enough oxygen, can`t normally move and becomes an easy prey. In some years, fimi population of certain regions can die off entirely.
Similar species: it`s often compared to refimi and werifimi, but there`s just as much differences as similarities between them.
*- specific organs of electromagnetic sense, a common trait of Ambarran vertebrates.
