Description Amy Rose had never been gifted with fortune and such luck: Her disappearance caused her to lose her family, the hero she had dedicated herself to was far to occupied by his voluntary occupation to take notice in her and more importantly, she was alone.

Well, not entirely.

Through her troubled, pre-teen life, she had her trustworthy friend, Cream. The pair were inseparable. Whenever Amy needed someone, she was there. Whether Amy knew it or not, Cream was everything to her.

The anxious hedgehog sat on a blue, iron chair in a rather spacious waiting room. Her right foot continuously tapped the ground as her body shook. Her mouth would allow a sorrow sigh to escape every now and then when the certain rabbit came into her mind.

Her eyes twitched from the ground she was staring at, to the clock on wall. Every passing second seemed to get slower to the young hedgehog. It was as if the clock was somehow teasing her and trying to make her frustrated. It was working.

"Miss Amy Rose?" A young female nurse called quietly, enough for Amy to hear.

Amy stood up and walked towards the nurse. She was a light grey owl wearing her traditional nurse uniform. She held a clipboard to her chest and showed hardly any emotion. Although, according to Amy's strong sense of feelings, she could tell this nurse was holding a straight face for her benefit.

After holding back a powerful sob, she swallowed hard and tried to hold a stern face. "Is she going to be okay?"

"I think it's best if you follow me, miss Rose." The nurse replied.

Doing what she was told, she followed the nurse to the room where her dear friend lay. Inside was the one and only Cream. Her body was covered with many covers and what seemed to be tubes leading to different machines and other apparatus.

Amy covered her mouth with her hand to keep in any unwanted sobs. Her eyes let out two tears from her eyes from the sight of her friend. "Oh Cream--"

Located somewhere in the Mystic Ruins, a two tailed fox was sat at his desk with red, blood-shot eyes. He had been working constantly for days. He was trying to figure out a cure for his bunny friend. His hands shook violently from his constant caffeine intake he had consumed the past few days, causing him to often make errors in his work.

He was not very educated in biology science. He was an inventor of machinery, not medicine. Though he was determined to save this girl no matter what.

She was all the hope he had left.

Not everyone understood the fox's theory. They knew he had a strong relationship with the rabbit yet it was difficult to figure out why the genious would force himself through so much stress and sudden "drug" intake.

Though deep down, the rabbit knew why he had become so.

The fox continued making his own unique medicine whilst chugging down a whole cup of coffee in seconds to keep him from collapsing from exhaustion. His shaky hands poured one chemical in another test tube, in hope of a shade of blue for his result to make an alkaline.

It failed, Again.

SMASH!

Broken test tubes were smashed on the floor, paper work slowly floated from the sky onto the floor where the fox lay through his breakdown. He sobbed at his once again failed experiment.

"WHY WON'T YOU WORK?! JUST WORK NOW FOR ME!-- For Cream..."

A blue hedgehog slowly walked in front of his little friend. He kept a serious face but held out his hand for the fox to take. The fox rejected the gesture and quickly rose to his feet.

"What are you doing here Sonic? I'm afraid I can't do anything for you right now. I must continue my research." He said rather too quickly for anyone of a natural mental health to speak.

Sonic shook his head then folded his arms. "Tails..." Sonic spoke softly. "I know you're feeling like the responsibility is all on you but it's not! You need rest, you need to eat. I mean look at'cha, you're not well enough."

He was ignored by the younger male who continued his work. "You don't understand." He mumbled.

"You're right. I don't understand. I don't understand why ya treating yourself like this! Yes Cream isn't well but she will pull through! You can't give up hope Tails!"

The equipment being used harshly hit the desk. Tails glared at his older brother and gave a low growl. "What? Like Vanilla did?! The same Vanilla who was fine then suddenly got hit by a very rare and fatal illness? She gone Sonic! She's deceased, she's no more, she is buried six foot underground! We had hope for her Sonic and look what happened to her."

Sonic walked closer to his friend and looked his directly in the eyes with seriousness. "Think about Cream, Tails! The poor girl probably doesn't even know the truth of her mother! Rouge convinced us to tell her that Vanilla had gone on a long vacation. What kinda sick lie is that?!"

Tails pushed Sonic away and growled once again. "I CAN'T LOSE HER SONIC!"

Silence immediately hit the room. Sonic stood in shock whilst Tails tried to maintain his breath.

He let out one last sigh and looked at Sonic. "I couldn't do anything to save Cosmo and I will not let another escape. I may be too young for this kind of Chemistry but I know what my feelings are telling me..."

Sonic didn't have a comeback. He just stood bewildered by what his brother was saying. Tails has fallen for Cream? Impossible! ... But it's true...

"I---I'm sorry bud-. I didn't even realise. I'm sorry." Sonic said gently as he embraced the fox in a brotherly matter.

Amy sat at the end of Cream's bed with a small basket of Grapes in her arms. She held it like a mother holding her child. Eventhough she tried to think differently, she couldn't help but think this could be the last present Cream would recieve from her.

The bunny slept with a pained expression on her face. It was hurtful to see a 8 years old child fighting for her life with a lot of machines to help her get though.

Would she want to survive this fatal illness?

What would she do if the illness was gone? Her mother wasn't successful in destroying the dreaded illness and that was Cream's only family. And if she did, who was going to tell her about her mothers tragic death?

The pink hedgehog shook off the feeling and forced as smile on her face. She slowly made her way to the hospital curtain and close them. It was a beautiful sunset sky and it gave the summer trees a fading, vibrant glow.

The sight would have took her breath away, but when her "sister" is in a hospital bed, fighting for her life, she found the sight rather stomach chirning.

Just before she was about to close the curtains, a sore voice called for her. "Amy?"

Amy quickly turned around and forced herself to act like nothing was wrong and how everything would be alright. "Hello Cream. How are you feeling today?" she said sweetly.

Cream coughed a few times before she could speak. "I'm doing fine Amy. Thank you for coming!"

The hedgehog took hold of Cream's hand and fake another smile. "I wouldn't miss this for the world."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After having a long conversation. Cream could see the hurt and pain inside. She slowly sat up and smiled at her. "Where is mama? I hope she comes back soon. I really want to see her. Please Amy please!?"
"Not now Cream. Mama hasn't come back yet but when she does, she'll give you a present.
Cream knew Amy was lying and she also knew what had happen to her mother. She was smart enought to know and what happened to her mother would happen to her. She smiled at the thought of Amy being with her at her time of need. Just like she always did with her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As midnight creeped in. Amy watched over Cream who was getting worse. She couldn't do anything but watch or get the nurse when needed. But she had to stay no matter what. This was for Cream afterall.

Cream stared at Amy with a smile on her face. Amy noticed and giggled. "What?" She asked innocently.

"Do you remember when we used to make up lyrics to our song. We always said one day we'd become superstars and sing our song for the world to hear." Cream giggled sweetly.

Amy remembered the time when she and Cream made up the song. She always sang it to Cream whenever she was upset or to make her fall asleep.

She walked over to Cream and wrapped her arms around her in an embrace. "You remember the words don't you Cream?"

Cream looked up at Amy and smiled. "I would never forget something so special Amy. It's Our song. It always will be."

The pinkette sniffled and held Cream closer, being careful not to hurt her anymore. She slowly cradled the sick child from side to side.

The promises we created that morning
never left my mind,
Trying so hard not let them fall behind~

All because you cried to "Never let you go"

Please close your eyes, the sun will soon go down.
You'll be just fine 'cause no one can hurt you now.

So let sun light shine 'cause you'll be safe in my arms...

"Thank you Amy." Cream whispered softly.

"You're welcome Cream. Just know I won't let you go I promise."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moon faded behind the nearby houses and the sun started to rise above the city. The sun ray shown through the window and passed Amy who sat on the window sill. She was staring out the window, smiling.
"It's funny. Before I looked out here and saw nothing but simple houses and plain trees but... Its more complicated then that, you know? I don't really know how to explain it... You know what I mean don't you Cream?"
The elder female turned to her friend who was taking slow, deep breaths. Amy curiously walked towards her. "Cream? Are you okay?"
Her rabbit friend smiled and looked passed Amy, to the window. "I want to see mama again."
"You can't Cream. She's not here-"
"I know where she is Amy. She may be gone but... I know I can follow her. I'm not ready to leave her Amy. I suppose I never will."
Tear suddenly fell from Amy's eyes without will. She held onto Cream's weak hand hand held it close to her. "You can't say that Cream. What about us? Everyone else? You can't just leave now. What about our promise?!"
"I know you're hurting Amy but please, you have to let me go. I won't last much longer and It's time I return to Mama again..."
Amy let out a sob. "But I don't want you to go! You're my only friend I truly have! Without you I have nothing!"
Cream smiled once again. "I'm not leaving you Amy. I've always been with you and I always will. In your mind and in your heart. You have to remember that."
The 14 year old hedgehog stared at the rabbit then let out a sigh. "I'll miss you Cream... Say hello to Vanilla for us."
"I will. Thank you Amy..."
Amy nodded to her true friend and held her close like she did earlier that night. Gently cradeling her, she sang softly.
Please close your eyes, the sun has now gone down.
It's over now but I know we'll meet somehow.
You'll be just fine 'cause no one can hurt you now...
And I know you are safe and sound.
