“G.U.Y.” is about being a power bottom, being okay with not always taking charge because you know that you are strong even if you aren’t on top. I can’t relate to that specifically. However, I do feel the pounding beat of the song and the edge to it, especially towards the end when she starts shouting. There is the sound of angst, almost, in her voice when she builds to the chorus. Thinking about that, the wild ride of the song, and the sexuality within the lyrics, I thought about the very turbulent time of early teenage years and that point when girls and boys are no longer find each other icky. The picture shows cartoon characters that I associated with that time in my life pulling back the curtain on a male and female character from a show for an older audience in a passionate embrace to show that entering into a new part of your life and having the curtain of childhood innocence and naiveté lifted a bit to reveal something new.
