I don't really remember when I started setting boundaries. I just realized it when my phone started ringing a lot less frequently, when the gap between coffee dates became longer, and when I stopped being available all the time for other people. It's not because of something they did—I'm just different now.

I realized over the years that I still have more healing to do. That I value peace more than anything else now. I learned that I have way too many problems to complicate life further with heartbreaks and disappointments, and while I know deep inside that it won't be forever true, for now, I just have way too many battles in front of me that I can't afford to lose.
