Description After working on and off for over a year, I finally finished Warphammer's commission. This will be my last commission done only in colored pencils, due to the time it takes and the risk of burnout (I started this before I got my Prisma markers, which take far less time and hassle to color images). Warp's char is a broadwing hawk; the dragon is just a special symbol to him, which I added in an egg-shaped, yin-yang pose. Please don't tell me that I messed-up on the hawk's markings, his anatomy or the jessies, or that the background looks flat and undetailed, because this pic is supposed to be stylized and not perfectly true-to-life. (I wanted the contrast of detailed characters set against a simple background.) Anyway, I deeply appreciate how patient and kind Warp has been while waiting for this, and I hope he likes how it turned out. (BTW, the colors are MUCH more vivid IRL, the details more clear, and the original is quite large--at least for my usual work.)

It's 15 x 11.5 inches, and the scanner ate the vividness of the colors, making it all look faded...ah well. But thanks!

This just blows me away. The details are amazing and the colors are so smooth and creamy, it's really rare to find a colored pencil picture this good. I really like how you did the individual feathers on the hawk and all of the scales on the dragon, it adds a lot to the image. Very good composition, too. I think you really outdid yourself with this one.

Such...smooth..gradients.. How the heck do you do it with just coloured pencils? o.O; And you must have a rock-steady hand for all those ink lines to be so perfect! (but how is it so steady after abusing it by burnishing such smooth colour gradients??) *mind boggles*

For my coloring technique, see my comment here: [link] ...as for the inking, I often have to go back after burnishing and re-add some of the details with drawing pen or mechanical pencil.

wow. the level and attention to detail on this piece is something i can only hope that my art can some day achieve. in a parallel universe, 'cause it wouldnt do it in this work. i dont know the commissioner, but this definatly looks like a years' worth of work and i hope they're happy with it because its fantastic. :: explodes from detail in hawk feathers and dragon scales :: amazing.
