Crossandra's head ached, from the very moment they pried their eyes open. Above their right eyes was a lump-- presumably caused by the skirmish they had gotten into shortly after graduation. Something about how Kaukainen should have been the new king, and that the Wanderer's alliance with him meant nothing. All they remembered after that was hitting the floor, and now they were sitting out in the rain. Everything had already been packed up. Not even a smell of fried food remained. Crossandra groaned and sat up, hobbling under a tree for cover.--
