It's high time I resurrected my own private little crackship, JetxMai.Soundtrack for this crack:

AS THIS IS CRACK, DON'T ASK HOW THE HELL MAI/TY LEE/JET CAN ALL BE DRINKING IN A BAR IN THE FIRE NATION TOGETHER!! (if you do, i will call you a silly person and lob overripe mangoes at your head.)
Also, if you can't figure out "SWI"... obviously, you haven't been paying attention.

I really like your style; you make it look a lot like the style of the show, but you can still tell that it's your own style as well. It's obvious but not obvious at the same time. You kept them very in character, and while Jet's appearance in the comic was sudden, it felt believable. Great job!

When it comes to Avatar, "weird and twisted" is my preferred idiom - probably because canon is just so... lacking. :/ With the the exception of Smellershot. I dunno, when it comes to a story set in the midst of a century of genocidal war, it just seems wrong for cutesy and blah. Would have been more sporting if all ships had remained unresolved at the end - for fandom fodder if nothing else.

The only canon thing I ship for Avatar is KataraXAang, but even that I find kinda boring. (Or maybe it's just because I don't like Katara very much, I don't know.)Otherwise I ship stuff like SukiXZuko-which is totally odd for most people to handle-, SokkaXMai, and of course, JetXMai. Smellershot is totally canon, though. It just... is.
But you're right, when you're in the middle of a war there is no. time. whatsoever. for being romantically involved. After the war? Totally, it's safe. But during the war it's definitely not right.
Unexpected!Jet is totally and completely unexpected, but he tends to be that way in the show too. Even when he "died" [which he did NOT] it was unexpected to me.
JetXMai is the love/hate relationship probably based off of sharp pointy things. Besides, their relationship works personality wise too, even if they didn't meet in canon and we don't fully know how they'd react to one another.

I've seen Sokka/Mai done pretty well, but then I ship with Sokka with pretty much anyone.
