do you make your own tones?

Most of the tones I did with photoshop. Some, like those sparkly thingees, were scanned Deleter tones. They cost too much and I can't bring myself to use them on only one artwork. So I recycle them. ^_^

I bought some of the tones in HongKong during a comic convention way way back. I think there are Deleter distributors in the US also. I haven't really tried searching for online resources since most of the stuff would probably be low-res anyway.
I tone work with 300 dpi psd files. Moire patterns usually occur when you overlap two screentones at different angles from each other. Of course when you do tones in PS, it's much easier to manage since all you have to do is maintain the dot size and the angle (45 degrees is good.)
Just remember not to resize the artwork while you're toning for consistent tone sizes.
Digital moires are another concern. Most of the time, when you do tones on your PC and print it on a desktop printer (laser or inkjet), it looks moire-free, but when you bring them to the offset printers, gah, moire disaster! I still havent figured out how to prevent this thing from happening, but we're experimenting possible solutions to this problem.

I've been meaning to practice tone work much more, but have nothing more than a few crappy hand made tones to work with. Where could I buy those Deleter type? Do you know of any good online source? Or maybe a downloadable source?
also, if you don't mind all the questions... what resolution do you tone at? That question has just been boggling my mind for a while. The whole problem of moire patterns... of course you know exactly what I mean. Man it makes things ugly sometimes.
