Description The fighting with Ghidorah at first seemed to favor for the assembled heroes. The combination of attacks from those like Thor, Yellowjacket, the Hulk, Iron Man and War Machine along with the Atlantian forces proved to be an impeccable force that could have brought the space dragon to its knees. And with Captain America helping to lead the charge they faced against this terror as they did any threat to the planet, with courage and bravery and heroism to the end. Unfortunately the beast proved far more resourceful and clever than the heroes gave credit for, mainly due to the recent experience with Godzilla.

Without barley being scratched Ghidorah finally stood on its hind legs before spreading its massive wings. With one grand flap it managed to blow everyone back and away from it. But it did not end there. Ghidorah continued to flap with large winded gusts that built further and further up until winds like a hurricane began to batter at the forces. While those like the Hulk, the Thing and Colossus were able to hold themselves steadfast others like the Atlantian soldiers, and even some of the air-born heroes, were being tossed and turned around in the winds. It became so powerful that even some of the Atlantian warships found themselves tipping over of being pushed back by the force.

This turned out to be more than an attack as Ghidorah soon rose into the air and took flight. By the tie everything settled the heroes realized that the monster was already air born, giving its massive screeching roar as it continued upward.

“Don’t let it get away!” Cap called out, all those able to fly fast enough taking for the sky in a heartbeat.

Thor, Iron Man, War Machine, the Human Torch and Rouge all took to the skies following after Ghidorah. The chase did not last long, however, as Ghidorah found itself being cut off from its path by in-coming fighter jets.

“Look at that.” War Machine pointed out. “Looks like Fury’s calls came through.”

“Well let’s not let them have all the fun.” Rouge insisted before they all flew into the eventual dogfight that erupted.

Four of the fighters came in first, firing missiles towards the beast. Three out of the eight managed to hit, Ghidorah ducking away from the others; as did some of the heroes in the process. Ghidorah retaliated with a few blasts of electric energy from its heads, managing to take down five fighters in the process. Two others were destroyed when Ghidorah passed by, taken them out with the sheer force of his bulk augmenting the air.

The fighters broke off and waited for the heroes turn, War Machine taking the charge while saying “You want a dog fight, you got one!”

He fired his weaponry at Ghidorah’s back, managing to at least gain the attention of one head. It looked back and fired, War Machine bobbing out of the way. This proved a distraction for the Human Torch to try and attack at Ghidorah’s chest, using his fire abilities to blast at him with a stream of concentrated flames.  It didn’t have the effect he wanted, even to where he commented how it wasn’t even tickling him. Iron Man flew in as well, trying to fire at Ghidorah’s furthermost right head. It did, gaining its attention as it tried to snap at him.

In truth all the attacking was just a distraction for more fighter jets to come in for another attack. Upon confirming they had locked onto Ghidorah the heroes maneuvered away, giving them a clear shot straight for the flying beast. All managed to hit their target before a massive cloud of smoke bellowed out with the heroes stopping to see if Ghidoah had fallen while the fighters circled around.

“This we got him?” Human Torch asked.

Thor answered with “After the fighting with Godzilla, I fear that question is optimistic as best.”

Sure enough Ghirdoah was not only revealed to be alive as the smoke cleared but now he seemed fiercer than ever. Red eyes flared before another roar echoed through the air. As the fighters came in again Ghidorah fired more electrical energy, two being utterly destroyed while others were hit at the wings and began to fall. War Machine called for Human Torch and Rouge to make sure the pilots were alright before trying to maneuver an attack plan with Iron Man. The sudden rush of more wind built up by Ghidorah knocked them out of the way.
Just as Ghidorah had a moment of victory it was attacked from behind by something with more advanced weapons that hit it before. It turned to see the Milano hovering nearby, the smirking faces of the Guardians from the window of the ship itself.

“Didn’t forget us, did you?” Star-Lord quipped before firing more bolts at Ghidorah.

Ghidorah took the shots, not being fully effected, before swooping towards the Milano. The ship veered as Star-Lord turned with the space dragon giving chase. Gamora and Rocket kept checking ships sensors while Drax and Groot looked out the windows to see Ghidorah behind them. It fired at them with the energy beams, Star-Lord veering out of the way from each of them to avoid being hit.

“We should hit the thrusters.” Gamora suggested.

Star-Lord kept on his path while saying “Wait for it.” He watched and waited until Ghidorah was close enough before calling “NOW!”

The Milano’s thrusters fired right as Ghidorah had come close to sinking one of its jaws on the craft. The burn of the thrusters struck right in the mouth, making the beast screech in pain from nearly being blinded. The Guardians only managed a slight moment of victory before another head fired at them, a stray shot managing to clip one of the turbines on the wing of the Milano.

“I am Groot!”

“I know we’re crashing!” Star-Lord called back. “Just hang on, I’ll bring her down.”

Ghidorah watched as the Milano was forced to fall down out of the sky. It stopped and watched before having a slight moment of victory, yet again, that was soon interrupted.
Before Ghidorah could make another move the clouds began to form into thundering darkness. Bolts of lightning crackled before Ghidorah looked towards the form of Thor whirling his hammer at the ready.

With a bold face he challenged with “You may claim to be an almighty destroyer from the stars, but many have come to this world with such bolster and fallen as the others. Oh great and mighty Ghirodah, you may have the power of the heavens, but there is only ONE GOD OF THUNDER! AND HE WILL SEE YOU SLAIN!”

With enough power built up Thor fired a powerful bolt of electricity towards Ghidorah. It struck right in the chest, electrocuting the monster right in the air. At first it seemed to be enough to knock it out of the sky, but this was but a bluff as Ghidorah recovered and flew towards Thor. The god of thunder readied himself until the beast was close, striking out with Mjolnir. One head was hit but the other two managed to sweep in, one smacking him out of the air before the other hit him with a bolt of energy.

Thor had only just recovered from the blast he’d taken from Godzilla, but the combination with Ghidorah’s attack was too much. He wound up falling out of the air, Mjolnir falling from his grip as both hurtled towards the ground. He wound up falling back to New York, landing in the upper west side with a heavy crash.

Ghidorah flew back down, as if to see for itself if Thor was dead, before seeing where the god had fallen. Despite the fall Thor was still alive, groaning as he tried to pick himself up. Before he could Ghidorah’s foot stomped down, pinning him to the ground.

Despite the pain Thor looked up at the three-headed demon and said “Do your worst, monster. My story will be legendary after this…”

Ghidorah seemed ready to make the killing blow before something struck one of its head with someone calling “Leave him alone!” The object turned out to be Cap’s shield, which he caught when Ghidorah looked at him and called “Pick on someone your own size!”

Ghidorah hissed as it stomped towards Cap, the star-spangled hero not moving from his spot as it loomed over him. He held his shield at the ready and kept a brave face as he could tell Ghidorah was about to build up for a full on blast of energy from all three heads. Cap knew there was no way out of this without a miracle, but at least he would know he died fighting to protect his friend.

Ghirodah gave a final huff and...

A sudden blue ball of fire shot out and struck Ghidorah in the back. It screeched again, gaining Cap’s attention as both looked back to see where it came from. Coming into view, stomping his way towards the monster, was the revived Godzilla. Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and the other heroes who helped bring him back all stood nearby on the rooftops or in the air to see the two massive behemoths facing off.

Captain Marvel, as if speaking for Godzilla, flew in front and yelled “You heard him! Pick on someone your own size!”

Godzilla then stepped forward, Marvel moving out of the way, before giving a deafening roar. This was what he’d come for, to stop Ghidorah from destroying the world. This was more than a fight, it was a battle for the fate of the world itself. Ghidorah seemed to accept the challenge as all three heads gave roars to equal Godzilla’s. Everyone stood back as the battle of monster against monster finally began.

Godzilla charged forward and tackled into Ghidorah, pushing it back into a number of buildings. The space dragon managed to stay on its feet before its heads lashed out and attack. One managed to bite into Godzilla’s right arm while his left hand managed to catch one by the neck. The middle head roared as Godzilla did before trying to firing energy right in his face. Godzilla reacted by pushing it back again, this time forcing the head to point up so the blast went straight into the air.

Ghidorah had finally fallen on its back before Godzilla managed to stomp his foot down on the monster’s chest. He seemed ready for another attack before Ghidorah managed to pick itself up and knock Godzilla away. Before Godzilla could get to his feet Ghidorah managed to blast him with energy from its heads. They hit, knocking Godzilla back again, before the giant lizard toppled into more buildings that collapsed over it.

Ghidorah approached the rubble, trying to see if its attacks had managed to take down Godzilla. And then, from the smoke and debris, a stream of atomic fire blasted out. Ghidorah was only lucky its wings were able to cover and protect it as they folded in front. After that Godzilla took a change again, going head first as he slammed into Ghidorah’s body before the space dragon counter attack.

After recovering Ghidorah fired beams from the two side heads. They missed Godzilla but had managed to distract the monster the final head struck out, hitting him square in the chest. After that all fired together, battering Godzilla until he’d fallen back yet again. As he did Ghidorah took flight only to land a moment later right on top of Godzilla. It continued to lift itself high into the air before stomping down on Godzilla before he could recover or move out of the way.

The heroes all looked in shock as Godzilla continued to be trampled despite roaring and trying to fight on. Captain America looked the most shocked, surprised that Godzilla was starting to lose. Something had to be done.

After the final smashing of feet against Godzilla Ghirodah kept him pinned with a foot on his back. With Godzilla unable to maneuver freely Ghidorah primed all three heads for a final blast to put an end to Godzilla once and for all.

Before it could the Hulk had jumped into the scene, grabbing one of Ghidorah’s heads and saying “We’re not done here!”

Ghidorah struggled as the Hulk climbed over its head, smashing fist against eyes, before Human Torch and Captain Marvel flew in and fired their attacks at the other heads. They were careful to aim for the eyes to keep all of them blinded before Storm, using her mutant abilities, summoned a thundercloud that sent a bolt of lightning right into Ghidorah. The heroes backed off as Ghidorah took the hit, stumbling back before seeing what had happened.

As Godzilla got back on his feet the assembled heroes of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, and Namor with his remaining Atlantian army all stood in front as if to symbolize their standing with the giant dinosaur against Ghidorah. Ghidorah seemed hesitant about this as the heroes stood with a monster, one who didn’t seem to mind that the people he’d fought before were now standing at his side.

With his shield raised Captain America cried out “AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!” Godzilla adding to the battle cry with a mighty roar.

Everyone charged, including Godzilla, at the now outnumbered Ghidorah. Its first attack was laying out more shots of electrical energy. Godzilla took the hits but kept coming while the heroes either dodged or were protected by a barrier created by Invisible Woman. Once Godzilla was close enough he grabbed hold of Ghidorah as if to keep him still and in place while the heroes made their attacks.

She-Hulk and the Thing jumped to one head, pounding their fists against the skull and bashing at the eyes. Colossus threw Wolverine up and into the air to land on another head where he began to stab at it.

And Spider-Man had even swung up to the next head, landing on its face before saying “Hey! What’s that in your eye?” before webbing one of the eyes to blind it.

On the middle head, where Wolverine was, he bared his claws and declared “Something in this one too!” before sinking his claws into its left eye.

Ghidorah gave a painful screech before managing to use its strength to knock everyone, including Godzilla, off of it. Beaten and half-bind it tried to take to the skies, flying to get away and possibly leave in order to recover for a future fight. It didn’t get far, however, as something had stopped it. Looking back Ghidorah could see heroes like Hercules, Yellowjacket, giant-sized Wasp, Goliath, Hulk, Captain Marvel and Colossus all holding on to one of its tails.

“Going somewhere?” Wasp quipped.

Goliath even added “We didn’t say you could leave yet!”

Despite Ghidorah trying to pull away it didn’t work in time before Godzilla rushed in and grabbed hold of one of its legs. As Ghidorah tried to still fly away Godzilla went so far as to sink his jaws into Ghirdorah’s leg, effectively forcing it to fall back to the ground. When it did Ghidorah fell on its stomach, giving Godzilla the chance to stomp down on it again.

Either with whatever stored energy it had or due to it being beyond infuriated at this point Ghidorah unleashed a powerful burst of energy from its body that blasted everyone back including Godzilla. It stood, all heads roaring with rage, as it began firing more electrical energy in all directions. It wasn’t even aiming for anyone at this point.

Even Iron Man had pointed out “This isn’t fighting anymore. It’s just trying to destroy whatever it can!”

More buildings were destroyed along with Atlantian war machines that tired firing down the beast. From where they landed in the city the Guardians could see how chaotic Ghidorah seemed, even to where a stray shot almost hit them from so far away. Even the heroes who tried to fly in and flight were knocked aside or couldn’t get close enough before being forced back by the monster’s attacks.

When Godzilla recovered he changed again, only Ghidorah was ready this time. When they made contact Ghidorah’s middle head wrapped around Godzilla’s neck before biting down on his left shoulder to keep itself latched to him. The other two heads bit down on his arms, keeping them pinned as the middle began to squeeze and choke the life from him. Even as the heroes recovered they knew there was nothing they could do that would be able to save Godzilla in time. Everyone hoped and prayed he could do something to break Ghidorah’s hold in time before it was too late.

Suddenly the sound of a familiar hum could be heard. Everyone could see as Godzilla’s spikes began to glow blue again, building from the tip of the tail all the way up to his back. The heroes watched as Godzilla managed to open his mouth, the blue glow starting to build inside. Finally, with his head tilted towards Ghidorah, Godzilla unleashed a powerful atomic breath right at the base of its neck.

A loud snapping sound could be heard before everyone gasped at the sight of Ghidorah’s middle head being broken from its body. The other heads let go as they squealed in pain, Godzilla finally able to breathe again before pulling the now decapitated head from his neck.

Seeing this Wolverine couldn’t help but say “Damn! That was harsh. I like it!”

Ghidorah, as if suffering the loss of a leader, turned to try and fly away. Godzilla built up more power for another attack as Ghidorah took to the skies again. It didn’t get far, however, as Godzilla unleashed another powerful blast of energy at it. This time both of the wings had been struck, forcing the now two-headed space dragon to lose control and eventually fall. It landed right in the middle of Hudson River with an explosive splash.
With the final defeat of Ghidorah Godzilla gave a mighty, victorious roar up into the sky. All the heroes nearby gave sighs of relief or cheers of joy at the prospect of knowing they had defeated one of the more potential threats to the world.

“We did it!” the Thing declared. “Clobbered that punk right into Hell!”

“Thank god it’s finally over.” Wasp said.

“Is it?” Iron Man asked before everyone looked to Godzilla now. “Or do we still have another problem?”

As Godzilla stopped roaring he looked down at the heroes. Some of them were too tired to fight anymore while others looked like they were barley holding on to what strength they had left as was. The fighting with both him and Ghidorah had taken up the entire day to where the sun was starting to set, and during that time it was nothing but an endless battle against monster and hero.

The heroes worried if Godzilla would attack now that Ghidorah was gone. Was his thirst for destruction not content with the defeat of the monster? Would he attack out of revenge for them fighting him earlier? Or what if he was just still hungry for radiation to find?

After a moment where no one made a move Godzilla gave another roar before turning around. Everyone waited to see as he began to walk out of the city, now making for the sea. Many of them were waiting to be sure, but once it was clear Godzilla wasn’t going to fight them everyone relaxed.

“Wait!” Human Torch said. “That’s it? We’re just letting him go?”

“Fight’s over, kid.” The Ting answered. “I’m done. He’s done. And I think everyone else is done.”

“But we just spent the whole day dealing with him. And look at the city!” he pointed out all the ruined areas of New York. “It’s totally trashed!”

Iron Man then stepped in and said “Considering how it’s looked after all the fights that we’ve had here, I say it could have been worse.”

Wasp then asked “So does THIS mean he’s on our side?”

“I doubt he cares about sides.” Black Panther answered. “I believe Godzilla is only interested in making sure that he and his home is protected.”

“T’Challa’s got a point.” Captain Marvel said, now that Godzilla was entering the water. “But I guess, if anything, that makes him close enough to our side as he needs to be.”

Even as Godzilla began to go further and further out into the sea Spider-Man asked “So what do we do now?”

“We do what we always do.” Cap said, standing in front and watching with the others as Godzilla eventually disappeared. “We pick ourselves up and get ready for what comes next.”
