Description Maghendan looked at the god sitting next to him on the log. In the seven-hour period in which they had been separated, the majority of fabric she was wearing had gone missing (perhaps burned? Maghendan would have to keep an eye out for fire-breathing monstrosities), the bruises he had caused had mostly healed, and she had somehow managed to start smoking (maybe the fire was responsible for that). It was somewhat unnerving to see what could happen to a god (even a powerless one) in such a short time. It was equally unnerving that she had managed to find him. He didn't like the idea of being trackable while he could only stumble upon her by luck.

"Why did you wish to talk with me? You know this will end with us fighting." Maghendan was feeling vaguely unsettled by his opponent. She didn't seem to be very aggressive, and it made Maghendan uncomfortable. He simply wanted the round to be over.

"Really, I just wanted someone to talk to. I don't think I'm going to last very long around here. I have no powers, no followers, and no way to kill you. I figure, I might as well get to know you." Elzdrek kicked her legs back and forth, looking straight ahead. She didn't like admitting she was weak. "You're the only one I've met so far."

"I don't see how admitting to your weakness will help you survive. It seems too foolish to me. Unless you are lulling me into a false sense of security?"

"Honestly, I didn't think of that. Maybe I should have tried an intimidation tactic." Elzdrek sniffled, and Maghendan was surprised to see she was tearing up. "I'm no good at this at all! I never even left my hive before this! I don't know how things work!"

Maghendan knew how things worked all to well. He was the one to fix them, after all. Still, he felt slightly bad for his opponent. He had joined to exact some much deserved revenge on the beings who time after time had muddled and messed with the physical laws of the multiverse, not some pathetic thing that had never interfered with special shenanigans.

"Tell me, what did you do before you entered this?" Maghendan wasn't sure he wanted an answer. The last thing he needed was to feel sorry for the creature he had to (inadvertently) kill.

"I stayed in my hive, waiting for followers to bring me guests. I could never leave. It was boring, but at least it was safe." Elzdrek looked over at her opponent. He had lowered the BIG DAMN WRENCH, placing it beside him, and was apparently thinking, judging from the way he was looking off. "I thought this contest would just save me from that."

"Tell me, have you ever… adjusted the laws of space?" Maghendan's words came slowly, as if weighing each one.

"Not that I can remember. My followers hopped around time and space often, but they never changed anything. They ate a lot of things though. I killed creatures from different times, does that count?"

"Funny, I've never killed at all…" Maghendan mused, not really thinking of his opponent any more. "And I never will…"

"You won't? Does that mean I get to kill you?" Elzdrek looked up at the janitor excitedly, practically bouncing. "Are you throwing in the towel? Really? Thanks so much, Mr. Maghendan. I swear you won't regret it!" At those words, Maghendan started. He hadn't meant to say that!

"No. It does not mean that I am not allowed to kill you. It just means that I have to make sure you die, just not by my hand directly. And now, if you would kindly…" Maghendan rose, reaching for his weapon. He would only regret talking to her more.

But before he could try anything, Elzdrek was on her feet, and bursting away into the undergrowth. With a "God Damnit!" Maghendan followed her, trampling the flowers and grass underneath him into the soggy ground.

Five minutes later, Maghendan had to stop. He was panting heavily, and his BIG DAMN WRENCH had seemed to gain three hundred pounds. Where the fuck was she? Maghendan pounded the ground, angry beyond words. Now he had to spend even more time trekking through the jungle, trying to hunt down his diminutive opponent.

Elzdrek sighed in relief as the pounding footsteps faded away. She had practiced climbing trees for hours before trying to find her opponent, and it had really paid off. That, and the original purpose of her hunting him down had been accomplished; she had been able to set him as her tracking target. She smiled, searching the future to see where he was.

Aha! In two weeks, he would be right next to… and he would, yes… so, this could work out if… Elzdrek punched the air triumphantly. She had him! She looked down from the branch she was resting on, making sure there were no dangerous predators around. Since she had found Most Devoted Follower, the creatures had become much less common, something Elzdrek could really appreciate.

Elzdrek sniffed the air, happy that she was beginning to smell like her old self, not human sweat and fear. And, as an added bonus, she could smell no rain in the sky. Elzdrek broke off a branch, and munched on it thoughtfully.

It looks like things are starting to come my way.
