Months passed without further incident, baffling everyone. If this was an invasion, why would the Xenopaths allow us to recover? The unease settled over the world again, as everyone held their collective breaths for all hell to break loose. But hell never came. An energy signature appeared in the Amazons, but when teams were dispatched all they found were broken trees and some kind of tracks that led nowhere. Whatever had appeared did not want to engage, at least not right away.

Several more weeks passed with no sign of the kaiju, but viral videos from all over South America showed what looks like man-sized spiders feeding on livestock. Reports started welling in of missing pets, livestock and even people. Aerial recon of the reported areas revealed nothing, and traps to capture these elusive arachnids didn't fare any better. The kaiju had to be hiding underground, but what was it waiting for?

Yet more weeks passed, and with missing person reports in the thousands, one of the traps finally yielded a result. When trying to retrieve the cage, more spiders burst out of the ground to attack. It had been a trap. Troops mowed them down by the dozen, but they just kept coming. Realizing there was no end to the nightmarish torrent, evacuation was ordered. Almost immediately, the spiders ceased their attack. Relief was fleeting however, as something gargantuan was making its way towards them.

Mother had come to protect her children, and she was very angry.
