This tradition of mine has been going for five years now, I can't believe it's been this long. The well of ideas isn't dry yet, and people still give llama badges. Got to keep these going! ^^
To those of you who don't know, this kind of personal piece is made every year as a celebration of sorts. It's a gift to those who had generously given a llama badge to me in the past 12 months, where I take their icons and make a piece of artwork around it. At first, it was super simple, then second-year happened and I decided to give these pieces themes. And for the past few, it's been a nice holiday card or something Winter related, just in time for Thanksgiving. Surprisingly enough, the amount given to me this year was 130, the same as last year. The world just likes to have coincidences I guess. eve
Like I mentioned before, for the past few pieces they've been tied to the holidays or Winter. This year it's a very snow focused piece, including a pixel art snowman. I'm glad it came out the way it did, pixel art is not my strongest suit. What is, however, is artistic problem solving, which is fun when you have a bunch of icons and need to figure out how to shape them for the piece. And I got the idea to form them into a top hat for the snowman, just as something cute and simple. And to try and give a hidden depth, the icons that have faces facing forward act as a sort of light reflection, with the ones around them facing away from that central light. Just a fun aside. ^^'' (Also, thank you my Oregon sister for helping with some colors. You know who you are, love ya sis!)
I've been taking art classes for the past few months to attempt getting me to do more artwork more often, and it's helped some. Just looking at this, there's a lot I like. Particularly the pose, where I feel it's less robotic or stiff than the ones before. The background could be better, I'll admit it's not the best I could've come up with. Though the colors give the cool/cold Winter vibe, and there are some roman fives (V) in there to not make it look so simple. And to visually bookmark this is my fifth piece of this nature, of course. ^^
And to those who gave a llama badge in the past year, thank you so much once again. I don't know why you decided to give me those badges, but I'm thankful regardless that you decided to give them to me anyway. Sure it's small, but it's appreciated regardless. I hope you like this small little gift. ^v^
May you all have fun in the next month or so, as you enjoy your holidays as we bookend the 2010s. What's to come next, I don't know. But here's hoping it's going to be a bright future for all of us. >v<
