Perhaps he was once truly a member of the clergy. It remains unknown. As does his true name. As does his face. All that is known is that he heads a loyally zealous flock. His congregation, like him, detest and despise those granted with abilities. Preaching hellfire and brimstone upon those made different, he has guided his acolytes towards acts of intense violence upon the superhuman community within Cedar. From his church in the Burrows of the city’s West Side, this faceless false-prophet is growing into an ever more credible threat. What makes him all the more terrible is that he wears a pair of Penitent’s Gloves: gauntlets that can inverse the inner strengths of anyone they touch. For those without powers, they can do miracles: turn a sinner to a saint, a doubter into a believer, turn sickness into health. They can also corrupt. Synn can turn threats into degenerate madmen, politicians into pets and doubting sceptics into fervent followers. For those with superpowers though, the Gloves take a more powerful edge. They turn gifts into curses. Such was the case when he clashed with the YoungGunz and inverted the powers of Amphibia and Ardent. He is a dangerous enigma, hiding nearly every facet of his identity, even to the few close to him. What nobody is his most closely guarded secret: there is no power in the Penitent’s Gloves. For all the vitriol and hatred spouted against superhumans and those with innate powers, the man called Cardinal Synn is one of them.
