Description
I was watching My Little Pony with my little nephew, and I found myself actually enjoying the show. I had watched the first episode on multiple occasions, but I've never watched any further. It was a mistake to watch any further because now I'm hooked. I found this amazing website that lets you create 3D ponies, and, so I decided to try my hand at it.There are so many options there, and I'm addicted, so I'll probably have more Pony OCs coming soon. Drawn by me, and also from this website.
Anyway! This is Cyber Speed!
Cyber is a cyborg Pony. That means that she's part Pony, part computer. She was born as an Earth Pony by the name of Ever Glow, but her life took a complete turn when she received critical injuries from falling down a mountain. This is her story:
"What's your name?"
The young Earth Pony's eyelids fluttered as they were too heavy for her to open them all the way. There was a pounding in her head, and she barely recalled the events from the night before. The last thing she remembered was her parents walking out of her hospital room, and tears filled her eyes as she recalled the last thing they said before the door closed behind them: "We have no use for a lame daughter."
Her parents were strict. She was aware of that. Her father was a champion runner back in his younger days, and her mother was a champion gymnast. They both took a lot of pride in the accomplishments they made when they were her age, and they expected the same from her. That was why she was given the name of Ever Glow. Her parents believed that a name like that would bring her good luck. They expected a lot of her, but she never thought they would abandon her when she needed them the most.
"What is your name?" Doctor Remedy asked again, softer this time.
"I- I don't have a name," Ever Glow bit into her bottom lip, turning her head in the direction opposite of where the voice was coming from. Her vision hadn't cleared enough for her to be able to see the doctor, but she knew that the doctor could see her. And she was not about to let the doctor see her crying.
"You have a name," Doctor Remedy assured her. "It's Ever Glow, isn't it?"
"Is it?" A tear fell from her eyes as her eyelids fell shut again. "Am I deserving of such a name?" She sniffled and let out a sigh, trying to calm herself and let her eyes dry. Once the tears were gone and her vision cleared, she slowly turned her head in the direction of the doctor. She knew well enough by now that any quick movements caused her head to spin, and her head spinning caused her to throw up.
"Your name is Ever Glow," The doctor said again. "It's a good, strong name. Fit for a strong Pony. Which is exactly what you are. I'm not quite sure if any other Pony would have survived that fall. Consider yourself lucky."
Ever Glow hardly considered herself lucky. What good was a pony who couldn't use her legs? She hadn't even gotten her Cutie Mark yet, and now she had no legs to use. She was so sure that her special talent was tied to something athletic, so she doubted she'd ever be getting a Cutie Mark thanks to her injuries.
"I'll consider myself lucky if you can tell me I have a chance of ever walking again," Ever Glow demanded. She was a filly. Too young to be in this state. She was miserable.
"I can't make that promise," Doctor Remedy's ears folded to the side and she lowered her head in regret. "Even if your legs miraculously heal, you also suffered a decent amount of brain damage. It's likely that you wouldn't have proper control over them."
"Can you at least..." Ever Glow turned away from the doctor again. She was scared to ask her question. She had no recollection of how this even happened in the first place, but she was scared to ask. Her ears folded back and she narrowed her eyes as she turned to the doctor once again. "If there's nothing you can do, I don't see the need in having you here. If you don't mind, I'd like to be alone."
Doctor Remedy's eyes softened into a look of concern, but she got up and left the room without another word.
*
"Ah, you're awake!"
A familiar voice rang into Ever Glow's ears as her eyes slowly fluttered open once again. She must have fallen asleep after the doctor left her room earlier.
She wasn't in so much pain this time, and she vaguely wondered if the nurses had given her more medicine to deal with the pain. As he opened her eyes and looked around the room, they fell on the golden colt from her class. Light Speed. What was he doing here? The two of them didn't get along. They were more of rivals than enemies, but he was still the last person she expected to see while she was in the hospital.
"Light?" Her voice cracked. "What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to see if you were all right!" He said, and he pushed a glass of water toward her so that it was within her grasp. She tilted it up in her mouth and took it all in one go. "And. I also..." Hesitating was very uncharacteristic of him. He was usually confident and basically arrogant. He gulped. "I wanted to apologize."
"Apologize?" Ever Glow tilted her head.
"Well, yeah," He said. "It's sort of my fault that you're in here."
"Oh," Ever Glow's ears folded to the side of her head as a frown took over her face. "I don't remember what happened, honestly."
"I see," Light Speed's face fell, and he let out a big sigh. "Well, we sort of go into an argument yesterday. About who of us was the most athletic Pony in all of Seaddle."
Ever Glow nodded. That sounded like them.
"And, so, we agreed on a competition," Light continued, "And part of that competition involved a hoof race up the mountain and back down again. On the first leg of the race, you took a wrong turn and fell down the side of the mountain."
Hearing it didn't bring any memories back for her, but Light was honest enough. If he says that she took a wrong turn and fell down a mountain, then she took a wrong turn and fell down a mountain.
A soft giggle escaped her. "You don't have to be sorry about that," She assured him. "It's not your fault that I fell."
"Right..." There was something that Light Speed wasn't telling her, but she wasn't going to press on the matter. She assumed it was better that she didn't know.

"Ever Glow?" Nurse Scarlet Rose knocked on the door before peeking her head into the room. "This is Doctor Silver Hoof." She pushed her way further into the room, and a Unicorn stallion followed her inside. "He'll be running additional tests on you and taking a look at your condition."
"What happened to Doctor Remedy?" Ever Glow was confused. She didn't have a problem with her current doctor, and she didn't think her doctor had a problem with her. She hoped she didn't do anything to upset Doctor Remedy.
"Doctor Remedy is only a doctor of practical medicine," The one introduced as Doctor Silver Hoof said. He was a tall unicorn with black fur, a silver horn, and silver hooves. His mane and tail were white and a light gray, and his cutie mark was a cog. "This seems to be something beyond her capabilities, but I may be able to do something for you. I'm going to run some scans on you again and see if this fits my area of expertise."
"You mean...you might be able to fix me?" Ever Glow's ears perked up at the thought of getting her legs back.
"Maybe," Doctor Hoof said. "No promises yet, but I'm going to have a look."
*
After a few scans of her body and a couple of weeks of review, Doctor Silver Hoof returned to Ever Glow's room.
"There is something that can be done, but you might not like it." Doctor Hoof warned her. A clip board was floating next to him as he walked across the room so that he was standing in front of Ever Glow's bed.
"I'll like anything that gets me walking again!" Ever Glow promised.
"I'm worried that the part you might not like is just how long it's going to take," Doctor Hoof informed her.
"And...how long will that be?" Ever Glow frowned.
"Well, looking at your scans, I notice damage to your brain," Doctor Hoof explained. "Before we even consider working on those legs of yours, we're going to need to fix up that brain. If we don't, you won't have control over your body regardless. Once that's done, you'll need to recover from that operation before we can work on your legs. You're looking at six months, at the least."
"Six months of waiting to get my legs working again is better than living a whole life without them!" Ever Glow gave a confident nod.
At first, she didn't know exactly what she was agreeing to, but she didn't change her mind when she found out. The doctor would essentially be repairing her brain and fixing the damaged parts with computer parts. She would be a cyborg Pony, and it sounded so cool to a little filly who could have died from the accident that put her here.
*
About three weeks after her brain operation, which she successfully survived, Doctor Hoof came into her hospital room to let her know that it was time for her to go home. He said that she would probably recover from the surgery faster if she was in a place where she felt more comfortable. Upon hearing this, she made an attempt to contact her parents, but they didn't answer any of the scrolls that she sent out.
"I'll tell you what," Doctor Silver Hoof said, and he pushed a wheelchair up to her bed with his unicorn magic. "I can't very well send such a young filly out on her own, so why don't you come home with me?"
Ever Glow glanced at the wheel chair, and she shook her head. "I don't want to be wheeled around. I'll agree to going home when I have a way to transport myself."
Her reasoning for her refusal gave the biomedical and robotics engineering doctor a great idea. He engineered a pair of wings for her, and he used his unicorn magic to equip them. Ever Glow winced in pain as it felt like the wings were actually being connected to her shoulder bones, but she fluttered her wings and lifted herself up off the bed once they were successfully equipped.
"You might not be able to walk, but you can fly," Doctor Hoof told her.
A wide grin grew across Ever Glow's face as she unable to contain her excitement. She had always dreamed of being a Pegasus pony, and now she was living that dream. "This will have to do for now," She said, and fluttered around the room, trying to get used to the controls.
*
After being brought to Doctor Hoof's house, Ever Glow expected that her parents would be contacting her eventually. They didn't. Not even when she underwent the surgery on her legs and had her natural, Pony legs, replaced with robotic legs.
"Yes! Yes! I can't believe it!" Ever Glow cheered, hopping and bouncing on her new, robotic legs. It felt so good to have her legs back. "I have legs!" She dashed from one end of the room to the other. "I can run!" She bounced again. "I can bounce!" She whipped open her wings and threw herself into the air. "I can fly! Everything's..." Her wings fluttered slower as she lowered herself back onto the ground. "Perfect." Her voice came out almost in a whisper.
"Is something wrong?" Doctor Hoof asked her, picking up on her odd behavior.
"Nothing," She said with a sigh and turned her head away.
At that moment, she felt some sort of energy coursing through her body. She didn't know what the weird, tingling sensation was until the doctor said something along the lines of, "Well, would you look at that?"
She look where the doctor had his eyes on her backside, and she saw it. It was her Cutie Mark. A rainbow power button. Before all of this happened, she was so sure that her cutie mark was going to be something showing off how fast she was. She was not expecting this. "M-my Cutie Mark!" Ever Glow cheered, and she jumped into the air. "I got my Cutie Mark!"
The Doctor chuckled, and he nodded. "Yes, yes," He said. "I can see that."
"But, you know," She said, looking at the mark again. It was hard to take her eyes off of it. "This Cutie Mark doesn't feel like it belongs to a Pony named Ever Glow."
"No?" Doctor Hoof asked. "Why's that?"
"Ever Glow sounds like she should have a shooting star, or even just a regular star," Ever Glow said. "I have new legs. New wings. And a somewhat new brain. Is it too weird to think that I should have a new name, too?"
"Not at all," The doctor assured her. "How do you feel about the name Cyber Speed?"
"Cyber Speed?" She asked, her eyes glistening with amazement. "I like it!"
"Good, good," The doctor said with a laugh. "I'll keep that in mind when filling out your adoption forms."
Ever Glow, now accepting the name of Cyber Speed, blinked in confusion.
"That is," The doctor continued, "If you'll let me adopt you."
Cyber grinned from ear to ear, and she gave an enthusiastic nod. Over the months that she had been living with the doctor, he had began to feel something like a father to her anyway. "I would love that!" She cheered.
