History: Dev was born after many of her other siblings, and grew up in the house with an older brother and older sister. She was often quiet in school, spending time working on homework and reading when not learning bending with her mother. She had a few friends, but they didn't last after she completed school.

When she finished school, she was accepted to go to the Republic City police academy, and she began to hang out with Bryke. When he came back from the war she found his notebook of love notes that he had written to her prior to him going to war, and the two found they both had the same feelings for one another. They soon got married.

Dev moved through the ranks of the police department, starting out as a simple officer, before being promoted to detective, then being promoted to chief after the chief before her was killed. She remained the chief until being framed for several things, barely escaping conviction but resigning from her post. When Bryke became the president of the republic she worked as his personal security guard.
