Description Warriors: A Deadly Rivalry

Chapter 1

Blazeheart picked up a rabbit from the fresh kill pile. He slowly carried it towards a large rock where he'd usually eat alone. No cat ever bothered to join him, most likely because of his nasty tempered nature. This bad temper had sprung up ever since that night, moons ago, that he had lost his sister Mistpaw. Blazeheart had only just become a warrior about three moons ago. Two kits, Dovekit and Oakkit, would not shut up about how their apprentice ceremony would be at sunhigh. Blazeheart had hopes that he'd get one of them as his apprentice. Only because Frostpelt, their deputy would not stop bothering him, always complaining that he never did anything but sulk, and that the only time he did do somthing is when she tells him to. Blazeheart did not care, Frostpelt could say anything she wanted to.  Just because she was deputy must have meant that she could be the most bossy cat in the clan.

Blazeheart noticed the white she-cat padding up to him. 'Oh great, here we go.' "Blazeheart!" Frostpelt walked quickly up to the irritated tom. "What is it this time?" he hissed impatiantly. Frostpelt twitched her tail in annoyance. "You are going on the sunset patrol with Coalstar and Moonshadow." Blazeheart rolled his eyes, "Oh, fantastic. I get to listen to our oh so amazing leader complain about Duskclan, and Moonshadow boast about her apprentice. Sounds magical!" Frostpelt twitched her whiskers, "It's better than listinging to you rave and whine, while you waste space in the camp." Blazeheart opened his mouth to retort when he heard Coalstar, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather here beneath the highledge for a clan meeting."

The cats all began to gather in front of the large rock to listen to the news that Coalstar was going to share. Blazeheart watched them go, Frostpelt turned her head as she walked toward highledge, "That means you too, Blazeheart." Blazeheart pulled himself up and jumped down from the rock that he ate at. 'Okay let's get this over with.' Oakkit and Dovekit bounced excitedly towards the highledge. Blazeheart took his place beside his former mentor, Graytail, who was pressed close to Leafstorm. Blazeheart wouldn't be surprised if they announced kits, it was so obvious that they were mates now.

Coalstar lifted his head, "Cats of Iceclan, today I bring good news. Dovekit and Oakkit have reached their sixth moon and are ready to begin training to become a warrior. Dovekit, from this day, until you have recieved your warrior name, you shall be known as Dovepaw." He scanned the clan for a moment until his gaze rested apon a young she-cat. "Feathermist, you will mentor her. Stonewhisker was your mentor, and I expect that you will pass on the excellent hunting skills and your outstanding battle skills onto Dovepaw." Blazeheart flicked his tail, he'd get the next one for sure, Coalstar always seeked young cats to mentor cats. Coalstar turned to the other kit. "Oakkit, from this day forward, until you have earned your warrior name, you will be known as Oakpaw." He looked around at the group of cats, "Dawnbreeze." Fury tore through Blazeheart. 'What?! Why didn't he choose me?! What does Dawnbreeze have that I don't have?!' Coalstar stared at Dawnbreeze his gaze warm, "Dawnbreeze, you were mentored by Frostpelt. She has tought you great fighting and hunting skills, and has also taught you to be brave and compassionate. I expect you to pass these qualities onto Oakpaw." Coalstar looked around at his clan, " I hope that in the future we have warriors that will be proud and work hard for their clan." He looked at Blazeheart as he spoke, and most of the cats glanced back at him as well. Blazeheart gave a bad tempered growl.

Later that day, Blazeheart flicked around a pebble in the camp, laying on his rock again. It was sunset, and he really didn't care for that patrol. He just hoped that they left without him. Moonshadow turned her head, "Get over here Blazeheart you're not skipping the patrol again." Blazeheart stood up, annoyed. He could see Feathermist and Dovepaw return from their first day of training. He stalked over towards Moonshadow, and saw Coalstar padding toward the grass tunnel that lead out into the forest. Coalstar looked over at Blazeheart, "Glad you agreed to join the patrol, we could use your tracking skills more often than you usually do." Blazeheart flattened his ears. He knew his leader was dropping the hint that he needed to contribute more. Coalstar led the three cats into the forest.

The border patrol walked around the border of Duskclan's territory. Coalstar always insisted on remarking their scent lines there. Blazeheart guessed it was because he hated Rainstar. Coalstar, Moonshadow and Blazeheart marked along the border. Blazeheart sniffed among the roots and grass. Since this was a border patrol, the cats were allowed to hunt and eat without bringing it back. Blazeheart wouldn't mind a rabbit, he hadn't eaten since sunhigh, and that was a while back. He suddenly caught a few faint scents. He continued to sniff at the grass, Coalstar seemed to notice this. " What is it Blazeheart?" Blazeheart looked up, "Blood." Coalstar and Moonshadow's pelts bristled. Both began to sniff around with Blazeheart. Coalstar let out a alarmed yowl. Moonshadow and Blazeheart hurried after him. There, they found a black she-cat. She was laying on the ground covered in bloody wounds, beside her was a small brown kit. The unmistakeable scent of Rainstar was everywhere.
