Description Warriors: A Deadly Rivalry

Chapter 2

Coalstar rushed over to the injured she-cat. Blazeheart and Moonshadow followed silently. Coalstar's green eyes were wide with shock and horror, "Raven?! Is that you!? What did that fleabag Rainstar do to you?!" The black she-cat slowly and painfully turned her head "Coalfrost? I- Is it.... really you?" Coalstar crouched beside her, "I- I'm Coalstar now.... I've become leader." A ragged purr escaped her throat, "Oh..... That's wonderful..... Coalstar...." She coughed up blood. Coalstar turned to Moonshadow, "Moonshadow, hurry and get Sunflight.... Blazeheart, stay here."

Moonshadow hurried away. Coalstar leaned in closer to Raven, she slowly lifted her head again, and nudged the tiny brown kit beside her, "Coalstar..... P- Please..... Take him..." She hacked up more blood and her head slammed against the ground. Blazeheart began to feel sick as he remembered Mistpaw's death, which was just as awful, if not more than poor Raven. Coalstar moved even closer, "What?" Raven's body convulsed as she struggled to speak,"T- Take my son...... Gin..... Into I- Iceclan..... make sure he be- becomes a warrior...... I want.... I want his name to remain Gin.... So he'll remember me..... and h- his dead father..... who he was named after..... Coalstar...... T- take.... Gin........." Raven's body convulsed again, she took a deep breath, her body shuddered, and she remained still, her eyes rolled back and clouded over. Coalstar crumpled to the ground, "No! RAVEN!!!!" Gin mewled and kneaded at his dead mother's belly.
Coalstar's gaze was dull as he lifted his head, "Don't worry Raven, Your son Gin will be the greatest warrior the clans will ever see." He turned to Blazeheart, "Take him back to camp to the nursery." Blazeheart dipped his head and lifted the kit off the ground. He slowly walked towards the camp.

When he finally returned cats greeted Blazeheart with looks of shock. Blazeheart just glared at them as they whispered and stared. He carried the kit to the nursery, where the three queens stared at him. Sandfur's pelt bristled, "Who's kit is that?" Blazeheart put him down, "It's a dead loner's kit. I took him back to camp so one of you can care for him." Sandfur pulled her kits away, "Keep that revolting thing away from me and my kits!" Redfern turned away as well, after giving an angry hiss, "It probably has mange and everything, keep it away from the nursery Blazeheart!" Rainfeather just looked away, saying nothing. Blazeheart's fur bristled, he took the kit by the scruff and carried it out of the nursery and into the warriors den. It was moonhigh now, all the warriors were curled up sleeping.

Blazeheart carried it to his nest and layed down, unsure of what to do with this little kit. Gin mewed loudly, the kit was probably starving by now, and Blazeheart was pretty sure it needed milk, but no queen would take him. Stonewhisker lifted his head, "Blazeheart shut that thing up!" Blazeheart hissed at Stonewhisker. It was about time that graying old cat joined the elders, he was cranky enough. Feathermist frowned, lifting her head, "Blazeheart, why didn't you take him to the nursery?" Blazeheart flicked his tail impatiantly, "I did. None of the queens want him." Feathermist sighed lowering her head.

Rainfeather poked her head into the warriors den, "I'll take him Blazeheart." Blazeheart lifted his head to the blue gray queen. "I don't care what the other queens say. I can't sleep peacefully knowing that there is a starving kit crying. Blazeheart nodded, moving the kit closer to her. Rainfeather took Gin and carried him to the nursery. Blazeheart lowered his head onto his paws and fell asleep. Another night to replay the death of Mistpaw.
