Hey look! I'm not dead!Sorry for the huge hiatus...i've been really busy with real life and i could't really do much else...but right now i have some free time finally so i'll try to get that huge backlog i have done...
About this picture, it was supposed to be a patron reward with just spike flying...but since the patron told me he also liked smolder a lot, i couldn't resist but add her as well since she is my favourite from the students
and then, since i really loved the result, i went and cel shaded it!

Now this is a really sweet picture - I always pictured Smoulder becoming a bit like a surrogate sister to Spike.

Yeah...I can't agree, the Students as whole are terrible cast addition for the 98% of the time. But still, credit where it's due, good art.

I personally think the biggest issue with them is that they were added way late in the show run, in one of the worst overall seasons and with a very stupid setting ( seriously, i can't get over a school to teach friendship ) i don't think their characterization is bad, just the circumstances they got added in are...of course that's just how i see it so i can totally understand and respect not liking them

To me their addition killed season 8, since they were always presented as super-awesome team. I don't think the school itself was inherently bad idea but it only served to introduce Super 6 Friends that don't really need any teachers and ofter Mane 6 got sandbagged in their favour. Plus they feel like like very cliche characters without any characteristics or chemistry between each other. And I agree it's way too late to add whole bunch of new characters, and I admit I see no reason to have any investment in them. So yeah, no love here, I would gladly see them getting pushed off the cliff

Love how this turned out. The way you colored this is kinda neat, and it might sound weird but I like the cartoon-dragon-y anatomy on Smolder. The two of em are adorable.

I guess I'm used to MLP dragons looking more anthro in art, but I prefer it this way.

Oh...well, i can definitely see it being a thing with dragons standing on two legs and having what are essentially hands...but with this one i tried to stick to show style
