Description One of two drawings I did recently, both are related:

Eyes and Eyes

I have kept the watch and succeeded in the duty of my office again and again, but am denied rest. I shut my eyes but the light intrudes through. I have brought Gallowsday to the cold lands, hewing apart the vessels of the condemned and their kin. Yet the unmoving Sun still burns the Day relentlessly. Rivers of iron and wind of lead flow violently through my homelands, but no heat can burn me. How is it then that even the softest of light keeps me awake through the eons?

Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes

I cover my face, but the Sun still sees me. I consume my eyes, but my internals can not obscure my vision. I bury myself under molten mountains, but I still see lands afar and every breath of those criminals gnaws at me. My duty is renewed and my office calls me again to complete the impossible task. I am tired, but my eyes can never truly be closed. No matter my strength, I am unable to rip out my sight.

Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes

We are not flesh nor spirit, but have crafted ourselves from the foundations of the Day. We are nonsensical forms which do not care about the limitations of the physical. Our bodies are built with grand purpose and can not be broken. No weapon, nor mechanation can injure us, no rust or ruin can befall us. Our limbs are sturdy like hardened earth yet as swift and violent as a robuste flame. The others take great joy in their purpose, and pleased whenever the Gallowsday is called. I am tired, but will not abandon my office.

Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes

How broad has our judgment struck? So many little ones trampled upon in our warpath. I do not find happiness to hurt them, but the condemned must be cut down. Though my eyes have grown heavy, my vision remains sharper than the others. I see to delay their destruction, to give some moments of peace to those mundane people. The guilty sprout again, but I offer the small a portion of my body to them, a glimpse into my tired vision. Their flesh molds into a worthy weapon against the condemned and cuts down its roots before they can take hold. Guilty eyes flee from eyes of judgment, eyes that scream and eyes that destroy. My sight is powerful and the criminals will flee and hide at even a fraction of it. But still this has only granted a narrow sliver of peace to the small. The roots grow again, and some of my blessed children have begun to curse me, speaking words of mercy towards the guilty. I do not understand why they forsake my gifts. It seems Gallowsday is inevitable again.

Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes

I am tired. My tasks are unending. What have they done to stir such an eternal ire? This kingdom was forged to escape condemnation, but without a judge they again find themselves guilty. How? Were the walls of this fortress made inferior? Does your enemy seep through your fortifications? Or is it our very empire that has brought us this anguish? Why have we abandon creation for this lesser place? Where are we even? I do not recognize the nature of the land anymore. It hates us, the Sky shouts and lashes out against all, the Day boils with oceans of metal and the ever cold Night rumbles with wrathful, icy hail. This world is not meant for anyone.

Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes

For all the vision that is forced on me I can not perceive the nature of this ruin. I am tired, but who can I even demand rest from? The Sun burns my eyes, but it is merely an object. How then does it stand above the Sky which kills all? This fierce light which towers over death itself, why do you keep me awake? Our Court has not called for you. You are not the one who has given me my unending tasks, yet you demand that I stay alert for some hidden reasoning. The cruel paradox of it all is that I need more vision to remove this tiresome sight. I see much yet am still blinded by that accursed star. I swallow my eyes, but I need more Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes and Eyes
