Julia walked across the living room to a display case beside the fireplace. Inside the case were three pairs of beautiful high heeled shoes."I don't wear these very often. Do you have a preference about which pair I wear tonight?"
You stare at her stockinged feet, sorry that they would be covered by any of these shoes. You answer diplomatically.
"I'm sure that whichever pair you pick will be lovely."
"That's so sweet of you! Since I'm wearing a black dress, the black pumps in the middle will be best."
Julia lifted the black pumps out of the case and stepped into them.
