Description These are the South Maitland Railway (SMR) 10 class locos. These are models though, but thier are some preserved in the Hunter rgion of NSW, Australia. Built by Beyer Peacock and Co. between 1911 and 1925. These locos lasted serive in 1983! Yes people Russia, China and Africa weren't the only countries who used steam during the modern era of railways. Australia was part of it too. These engines weren't owned by the New South Wales Government Railways as they are privatley owned and were used to haul coal around the Hunter valley region, who have a long history with the coal industry. This was taken at a little model railway exhibition near Maitland station during their Hunter Valley Steamfest.
