It's definitely got potential, but I think it suffers a little from not thinking it out well enough. Looking at your sketch compared to this, it appears you didn't plan on a background for it from the start which probably explains why the elements just don't gel. I know that sometimes stuff just goes like that but this could be a very good piece if a bit more planning had been put into it.
I've just got a few pointers. I'll try and not go over points others have mentioned (especially ~linzer-torte 's comprehensive comment: [link] ) Hopefully these will be helpful for the future because I don't expect you to go editing this picture at this stage.
Firstly, the lighting and colour scheme is a bit random. I think you'd be better off if you kept the palette more focused. You used reds and blacks in the costume (accented with the red of the blood) so the purple blue in the walls really stands out in an unfortunately obnoxious way compared to the lighter yellows. I think either going for a lighter scheme Or a darker scheme would have been better, because right now it's just in the middle with a mix of the two.
About lighting, the light that casts her shadow seems to be coming from where the viewer is at and a bit higher; the upper right of the pic. But the the highlight on the eyes implies it's coming from the far left. The door that's been blown off the hinges is still Very bright which it would not be if the light isn't revealing much of the darkness in the back room, especially considering the shadow on the floor. The exit sign also seems to be a light source but it's not really casting any noticable light considering how bright it is.
Regarding the other elements, the face seems to be too static, considering what she's doing. I'd personally prefer a face that showed some more emotion, perhaps by lessening her cheerful-looking smile and making her eyes less wide-open/cheery, to show some ill-intent. Or perhaps a crazy, murderous grin. Right now it just seems static.
Also the hand that's holding the flail handle is really akward, especially as it looks like she's been swinging it recently. It'd make a lot more sense to have her hold it at her side rather than the front like that.
Hope those pointers help. As I said I'm not expecting you to redraw it all now, but just to keep these in mind in the future. You've definitely got a lot of skill and I think with a few pushes in the right direction you could produce some really nice stuff.

The girl's innocent expression and the bloody handprint seem especially...disturbing... seeing as it appears as though she just went on an extremely bloody, violent killing spree, and the handprint looks only about the size of, or smaller than, her own hand, meaning it could've belonged to...a child...or something...!
