Only now have I watched the show (and not just the movie) and I realize I had the whole idea for the cockpit completely wrong. It's a sphere with a glass bottom that fits into different ships. It's a standardized control center. So not only did Spike, Faye and Jet's cockpits look similar, they were identical - and they're called Monopods. I basically just created a cylindrical cup into the body of the ship and nothing more.
