The idea of an alter-ego has been around for decades. Opposite personalities have been the subject of books to movies.

Specitatio, also known as a Mirror Consciousness or simply 'alter-ego', is a rare parasite monster that only infects human beings. When they do infect a human being, a Specitatio has access to all the dark memories thoughts and desires of their host. Think of it as Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde.

Lifespan and Distribution -

The lifespan of a Specitatio's host is shared with its parasite. Specitatio cannot jump from person to person if their current host is about to die, but they can spread like a disease if their host kisses another human being. If the host has children with another human being (infected or not), their child will not be a host to a Specitatio.

Their true origin is unknown.

Food Preferences -

While regular food sustains the host's body, in order for the parasite to live, a Specitatio needs to consume human flesh at least one every month.

Activity -

Think of the way a Specitatio infects a human as a concept similar to possession. The host of a Specitatio is allowed to have control of their body during the day; however, by midnight, the parasite takes over. By the first beam of sunlight that touches them, the host becomes dormant until the next night.

While a parasite usually has full control, the host can sometimes still see through their own eyes. At most times, the host will forget any actions taken during the time the parasite has control, but if persuaded or if their will is strong enough, they may even retain their memories. Most memories are, however, thought to simply be dreams.

Personality -

The personality of a Specitatio depends on its host. Once they infect a human being, they become the literal manifestation of their host's darker side. Because of this, they usually follow the act of their host's main dark trait (of the Seven Deadly Sins.)

If the main trait is wrath, their personality is more likely to be easily angered and vengeful while their kills will be more vicious. If the main trait is lust, their personality will probably be more alluring and flirtatious. So on, and so on.

Appearance -

Even though the Specitatio may have full control of their host's body at the moment, the 'meat-suit' will retain its overall appearance besides being a little pale.

The Specitatio can reveal part of its true self by changing their meat-suit's eye colour to one reflecting its main deadly sin trait. This is shown by the following list:

Pink - Lust

Red - Wrath

Orange - Gluttony

Yellow - Greed

Green - Envy

Blue - Sloth

Purple - Pride

Abilities -

When the Specitatio has control, their host's body is at the maximum speed, strength, health and agility available at the moment.

Weaknesses -

A Specitatio must be killed while it is in its host body. There is no known way to separate the parasite from its host as it literally is part of its host. They can be killed with normal weapons, but this is extremely difficult seen as they are at the height of their physical fitness and alert at all times.
