Description
Here is some of the work that I did while developing the character EYE GUY for the Cartoon Network Studios program Ben 10, the DTV BEN 10: SECRET OF THE OMNITRIX. Many possiblities were generated for the idea of Eye Guy, so here are an assortment of rough doodles from my process of possibilities....BEN 10 and all related characters are trademarks of and © Cartoon Network.

awesome! weird the 10th is the one the real character is the most similar to, like most other things in Ben 10 where alot is based on the "Ten"

I gotta say, Ben 10 has annoying characters and really cheezy dialogue, and mediocre plots.
But if there's one thing I love about the show, and the thing that keeps me coming back, are the character designs.
You rock.

These are awesome, too bad the slouching pose from the concept eye guy (10) didn't make it into the final cut though.
I'm disappointed that the new alien force series doesn't use the black and white "suit" system like the original did. Or even black and green since he has a new shirt.

Your art is really insperational! You have an impressive resume and blogspot as well! I can see why MAN of ACTION hired you to help make this TV show. I get a kick out of seeing early concept art for a character design. This one of EYE GUY is very nice. Funny thing, I've identified the alien species for most of the BEN 10 heroes. All except EYE GUY. Even Wikipedia doesn't have the answer for me. Since you've designed this character, do you know by chance? Thanks again, and keep up the cool work.

Thank you very much for taking a moment from your busy schedule to respond to my question. Unfortunatly, I found the same question from another comment for this same art piece. I was really hoping the crew of MAN OF ACTION may have had a name for EYE GUY's race by now. It's important for the development of one of my signature characters! It's sort of my way of paying homage to you and the people that made BEN 10. And I wouldn't mind have your personal approval for it someday too. But getting back to the name subject. Have you personally thought up a name for this race yourself? If not, I thought up a couple of names if you'd like to hear? And if you still talk to the guys from MAN OF ACTION, anyway of letting them in on the suggestions to help make the name official for all BEN 10 fans? If it's too much to ask from your busy schedule, I can understand. I thank you again for writing back Mr. Perkins. Good luck with your current projects.

Therein lies the challenge of working as a professional designer, young fellow. Your boss comes to you and says " I need a superhero / supper villain that is a mutant chihuaua with elastic powers and acid vision...what you got?"... At no point do you get to say how retarded such a thing is, so long as you wish to work on a show, you will inevitably try to do something as cool as you can with the assignment. Go figure, eh?

I designed EyeGuy, Waybig, Upchuck, Ben 10,000, Ken 10, Arctiguana, Spitter, Ditto, Benwolf/Fangface, BenVicktor/Vicktor, BenMummy/Mummy, and quite a few more during my stint on Ben 10 from the end of season 1 through its' completionat the end of season 4 and the DVD "Ben 10: Seret of the Omnitrix".
