It took me a long time to finally comment on this piece because for a while I couldn't conjure up the appropriate words to express my feelings; but after some contemplation I am going to give it the old college try. For starters, I really enjoy the fragmented quality of the composition; it is a trend I have noticed consistently in your work and I must say I admire your ability to pull it all together effectively! The background in this piece though very busy has such a clear sense of balance; in addition I give elevated honorable mention to your treatment of the background in relation to the gladius! The sharp lines of the sword and horse hair helmet keep my eye steady; otherwise I would have been thrown off course by the beautiful sea of color. To sum it all up, I think this is such a well balanced composition, one that cannot be rewarded merely by "run of the mill" statements like awesome or cool. Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing more!
