Description
The Vanguard Class Medium Tank is the Therion Minarchy's main 'line' tank. Mounting a single 120mm Revolver Cannon, a co-axial tight-beam lazer, and a roof mounted high-speed Anti-Air/Anti-Infantry lazer. The tank is true medium, reasonable speed, reasonable armor, and a reasonable weapon.

The Vanguard Class is easy to produce and it's Revolver Cannon-style Main Gun gives it a high rate of fire compared to most projectile based weapons. A Revolver Cannon, unlike it's name, is actually a recoil operated chain-fed weapon. Firing caseless saboted ammunition, which is chained in 10 round segments, the weapon can achieve a high rate of fire when needed.

The most noteworthy thing about the Vanguard Class however, is that the vehicle almost entirely AI controlled. Crewed by a near-sentient AI and a single tank commander, the vehicle is capable of being mass-produced and allowing tank companies to have very little personnel. This makes the vehicles capable of being used on even backwater planets and the front lines due to thier ease of construction and small upkeep.

Another unique ability of the Vanguard Class is it's ability to have it's "Black Box" from the tank's AI taken out of the hulk after it has been knocked out and installed into a new Vanguard Chassis, keeping the experience and battle records of the older Vanguard in-service. In addition, most of the armor of the Vanguard is employed to protect the AI Box and the Vanguard's single crew compartment.
